Just to clarify, the OP deal is for the S90D. The S90D on EPP/EDU is $1530, which is NOT cheaper than the OP deal. The S90C on EPP/EDU is $1350, which technically is cheaper, but not the same TV as the OP.

Huh, the older S90C is still the top rated 65" TV from rtings.com that does the most detailed reviews I've seen. Sure there's some marginally better options for 3x the price, but this is a A tier TV for sure.

While true, that recommendation assumes the S90D is much more expensive. But that isn't necessarily true in this case.

S90C is ~$1500 at Best Buy & Amazon.

S90D is cheaper via this deal. And $1700 at Best Buy.

TL;DR: Get whichever is cheaper. woot

Ive been waiting almost 2 months for my s90c to arrive from samsung.com. What a nightmare this has been I wish I bought it elsewhere
I just got a s90c with the EPP/EDU/military discount on Samsung.com and also will get a $100 gift cert. for picking up at my local Best Buy the same day. The s90d is marginally better per rtings.

How much was the discount? I'm a veteran, but I currently work for DoD and have a .mil email address, so I'm assuming that'd work. Currently on vacation, so couldn't do it until Monday, but if the deal's good enough, might be worth the hassle.
EDIT: NVM, my verified Veteran account linked just fine. Looks to be $1349.99 + the $100 BBY gift card w/ pickup from my local store. Tempting…. Wonder if they could squeeze tax-free on this baby too 😂

OLED is going to have much better contrast since each subpixel is responsible for it's own light. This allows the display to have show true blacks since the pixel can be individually turned off.

QLED is more like your traditional backlit LCD. The difference is in the quantum dot tech (hence the Q) which emit different wavelengths of light dependent on the energy supplied. The advantage of backlighting with QLED is you can really crank up the brightness, so these TVs will fair better in direct sunlight.

So which is better? In optimal viewing conditions, OLED takes the cake hands down. The contrast will better, colors are more accurate, there's no color bleeding or messy gray uniformity, and the form factor will be slimmer. However if you're in a room with a ton of direct sunlight, none of that may matter since you can't see the image. Although more recent OLEDs have been improving brightness with each iteration, QLEDs are still several times brighter than their OLED counter parts.

tl;dr OLEDs are better but not as bright. QLEDs are brighter but not as good.

Got it from Sam's club for 750+ tax. It may be their display model because it didn't come with a box. 5 yrs warranty included as well.

It boggles my mind, why doesn't samsung support Dolby Vision. I would be all over this, alas, stuck waiting for a Sony deal. It's it so much to ask for a high end qd-oled that supports DV at this price?
Nothing is mastered to DV. It's all HDR10. This is like complaining about REC.2020 coverage when all Blurays are mastered to DCI-P3

The EDU deal is actually cheaper, if you follow the script and refuse the 2 year Samsung care that they offer when you chat with them.
