I got this in the previous deal and I am VERY happy with the Q7 Max. It is able to navigate my (small) home without any issue and I haven't had any problems at all. It has a dumb mop but my floor still comes out looking clean. If I had roommates or pets, I would probably want a fancier robot but this device does the job if you have a relatively clean place and you're too lazy to sweep and mop regularly.

Put a no go zone there then (if possible) or put an object there so it goes a different route.

How's the app? Easy to use for scheduling and creating no-go zones?
i was going to use alexa to create routines but the app is much better

actually surprisingly easy to use. the vac will automatically create no go zones when it runs into the same obstacle like stairs (it set it for me before i knew i could set them)

allows multiple floor maps to save. you can change the direction of cleaning to go along hardwood floors etc.

can set schedules to clean based on days and rooms. for example i only have mine clean carpeted bedrooms monday and friday while i have it clean heavy traffic areas every day.

suction on carpet on the g5 pro is really good. i couldn't justify the q7 cost, got the q5 pro when it was on sale not long ago.

Wirecutter does not currently recommend any vac mop combo robots, apparently still a lot of issues to be worked out

Q7 Max+ [amazon.com]with the dock for another $160 at $379. Is it worth it to get the dock? Or does that just provide another point of potential failure if it fails to dock properly?
It only takes a few seconds to empty the dirt tray manually. I prefer to clean the filter out weekly. I personally wouldn't pay for that relatively minor convenience.

Get it at Amazon where you can get a protection package. Once the one year warranty is up, Roborock customer service is useless.
I purchased a RoboRock Q5 directly from roborock as I qualified for a 10% discount as a veteran. Check your qualification at ID.me (for example -- first responders, medical professional, teacher, student, etc) to see if you qualify for a discount at Roborock and other establishments.

Is it worth it to pay more for a self cleaning unit? So many brands and models I never know what the hell would be worth buying.

Totally. I went from a S5 Pro similar to this one to Q Revo which includes the dustbin and self-cleaning mop water tanks. Life has been changed. I used to have clean the robot every time I use it, including washing the mop pads. But now I only need to empty the dirty water once a week and change the dust bag maybe every 2 months.

Roborock is the best brand, hands down.

Mine had issues connecting with my TP Link router. Took about an hour of troubleshooting before giving up, and returning it to Amazon.

I just need a good auto mopper for the hard floors downstairs. Just so many options and everyone has differing opinions on each one

How does the mopping function work? I get it doesn't replace regular mopping but curious on how functional it is.

Yes! I've had a few different brands and models and have done a lot of reading. I now own three Roborocks, and based on their reliability and ease of use from the actual robots, to their apps, and the customer service has been very responsive when I did have an issue.

If you need a mop, Q Revo, hands down is worth every dollar.

You get get it from Costco if you want the return policy comfort
You get find it on sale from time to time throughout the year
You can get it refurbished from eBay with a 2 year All-state warranty
