I bought a couple of these recently. I'm not a fan. One stopped working after about a month. Won't charge anymore. I took this flashlight camping and I really didn't care for this light. I kept having to rotate the flashlight in my hand trying to find the on/off button without looking at the light. It was kind of a pain. I have many olight flashlights. These are no where near the quality of olight. I really liked the shape and style of this light. But overall, after getting them I wished I wouldn't have…

Every brand you just mentioned is made in China. Sofirn is as good as any of those. From my experience, Acebeam is on a lower level.

Have this light in grey, it's nice. Not quite olight nice but for the money it's really solid. This is a thrower so be ready for that.

Is this good as a self defense daily carry to blind would be attackers?

If not, I've e been looking for a small EDC that can temporarily blind a person, what would you recommend that wouldn't break the bank?

The TD01 and TD01C are absolutely better lights. I prefer the TD01 with the linear driver over the TD01C with constant current driver.
I'd rather have a much longer run time at max output while I'm riding in the dark.

If you want small/kind of EDC pocketable, look at Wurkkos' small throwers. I have the TS11S with the 18650 extension tube. https://imgur.com/a/Q9C6BsE

Or, if you want the best out there for a couple bucks more, the Wurkkos TD01C. It's still pocketable but I wouldn't want to do it all day lol

Wurkkos lights are made by Sofirn.

Not 100% sure if this has a strobe or not, can't remember. Typically for self defense you want a strobe. This would be good if it can strobe. My go to carry for that is an olight warrior mini.

I'm not a flashlight mega enthusiast, but I did buy this flashlight in the past. It's excellent for spotting the dogs running the property at night and otherwise seeing things at distance. It has a lot of throw and is a great at lighting up anything that's a decent ways away.

Not my go-to for general purpose use, but the best one for being out with the dogs late at night if you have some acreage.

Yes. It has a strobe setting. However, it doesn't have an "instant on" strobe function, like most "real" tactical flashlights have that LEO's tend to use. I have 175 flashlights, and can't think of a single one without a strobe setting, other than a few older LEP's I have.

I have both. The original TD01 with the linear drive puts out more lumens and I like the finish better.

I happen to have a few of the lights mentioned, and the Acebeam 75 really impressed me with the build quality, but the sofirns at 20$ (like this light is often) make me wonder how they can be so good AND so cheap. This light in OP is a true thrower with very little flood, so know that... but also that is what makes it kind of interesting. I just dont know if you can get a more powerful and interesting light at this size at only 20 bucks.

As mentioned, you can put this in your pocket easily, but you won't because it's not really a general purpose light you'd carry around. If you want to see FAR you would grab this light.

That wurkkos looks interesting and Id probably buy that if I didnt have this sofirn already. It has a tail switch and as someone else pointed out the sofirn switch is not "great" but it is not terrible. For the way that you use this spotlight though it would be handy I think.

I love these in my car. Charges slowly while driving. If power goes out, just grab it and shine. So basically keep a recharable in my car, the 12v shuts down on the ciggy ports when parked, so there is no drain. Not all cars are like this though.

Just saying, unless you use it all the time and for significant amount of time, it's probably better off just leaving it unplugged (sounds like you're having it plugged in all the time.) Charging it to 100% constantly (and unnecessarily) lowers battery life. Li-ions discharge slowly enough it's generally not worth worrying about from week to week. From 100% it likely take months just to have a self discharge of 10-20%. (Though more for some flashlights with constant discharge from always on circuits.)

...On thinking about it a bit more I just double checked and while not obviously mentioned, the builtin charging circuit should actually cut off around 4.2v, which should keep the battery from being pushed to 100%. So ignore most of what I previously said. Stick Out Tongue

77outdoor. If you're monitoring this post, I'm still in need of red. It seemed a while back you were the sole seller of the IF22A in red (not even Sofirn had red anymore on their website or their AliExpress Store). Now it seems you don't have it in red anymore???? Thanks

4.2v is 100% SoC for many lithium cells, typically nominally rated at 3.6-3.8v.

Depending on chemistry, some go slightly higher, but for all intents and purposes, that is fully charged.

That said, any ill effects from keeping it fully charged are offset by the fact that it's a bare, easily replaceable cell, not captive inside a device that would require disassembly to access.

The self-discharge rates on lithium cells are very good, but keep in mind that flashlights with electronic switches have a parasitic drain, and on some, that rate is unintentionally high. The Wurkkos TS21 is one that comes to mind; it could drain a cell in about a month.

Try running them at the same time, TD01 will be brighter only for few minutes then it will step down due to heat. The TD01C will hold the initial brightness far longer than the original.

I also have the TS11S but the head is still bulky, I'm waiting for my Olight Baton Turbo to arrive.

My other small long throw is a Lumintop GT micro with its bigger brother GT mini.

It does have strobe, just triple click from off. My EDC is Olight Baton 4.
