AT&T & T-Mobile offer $1K value for iPhone 12 with their premium plans. Many are buying it for trading in with their carrier. Already got a 12 from Metro last deal, which was $50 more.
Keeping my current phones (13 and higher) as spares so I can trade these in instead for less.
Check out the unlock policy link I shared earlier.

The next time you find yourself in that situation you can try using a vpn to allow the phone to connect to the unlock server.
I also went to Verizon website and entered the IMEI and it was accepted there for trade-in also.
If you do this trade with verizon, how long do they keep the phone locked? And how long do you need to be in service? Can i stop the service after phone is unlocked?

The two posts above me are right
But I do think there's another option, which is to go into Metro portal online and change the IMEI to which that SIM is connected
Then the SIM and plan you've purchased cannot be used with the phone, and the IMEI on that phone should be freed up to be used by another Metro user (they'd just change the IMEI to the one of new phone on their own online portal)
Be careful, though, because you can only change the IMEI while you yourself have access to Metro portal
So if you sell or give away the phone before changing IMEI, you won't be able to get back inside because you need the SMS code to log in
In that case, you have to go to Metro store and pay through nose to do it
Don't ask me how I know lol

'Here's how it works: Sales tax applies. You'll need email & ID (to verify your name & address) to sign up. Heads up—if you want to move to a less expensive rate plan during the next 6 months after getting this deal, you'll need to pay $50 to change plans. An activation charge of $25 may apply in-store. You can get deals on up to 4 lines. This is a limited-time offer and, like everything else in this crazy world, is subject to change.'
