How much do you expect for a non-carrier promotion for a 4-year old base model phone?

AT&T & T-Mobile offer $1K value for iPhone 12 with their premium plans. Many are buying it for trading in with their carrier. Already got a 12 from Metro last deal, which was $50 more.

Keeping my current phones (13 and higher) as spares so I can trade these in instead for less.

If you don't auto-pay or extend service, there is nothing to cancel. You just stop paying. Based on what I have read, device should auto unlock after 12 months from activation and continued service is not required.

Check out the unlock policy link I shared earlier.

metro-by-tmobile website fraud algorithm is pretty flaky and stupid. they'll ip block you based on public records.

person 1: ordered: iphone 12, a9+, a9+, g stylus 2024...then blocked
person 2: ordered: edge 2024, edge 2024, then blocked
person 3: pending
person 4: pending
person 5: pending

but if you have friends, families, and relatives, it makes for a great game. 2 can play at this game Wink

What do you do with em all?

Do they sell quickly on ebay, etc? Locked to Metro?

Yep, their algorithm is definitely inconsistent.
* My Account: Samsung A54, Nokia G400, Nord N30, Moto Razor 2023, iPhone 11, iPhone 11, blocked. The first four phones were puchased with a gap of 4-6 weeks between orders. The two iPhone 11's were bought together.
* Wife's Account: Two iPhone 11's bought about a month apart, then blocked.
* Daughter's Account: Two iPhone 12's bought together, then blocked.
All orders in the 3 accounts above had different names, email, cc, but shipped to the same address.

* Brother's Account (using his name, address, email, cc): Two iPhone 12's bought together, A9+, A9+, Moto Edge 2024, Moto G Stylus 5G 2024, blocked.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but received the phone and want to use on another Metro Account. How do I make sure that this is removed from the account to use on an existing Metro account after being activated with ported number?

I've used the method described in this post to move service from one phone to another phone, but the line stayed in the same account. https://slickdeals.net/f/17768802-64gb-apple-iphone-12-5g-smartphone-metro-by-t-mobile-w-metro-flex-plus-plan-75-w-number-port-in-free-s-h?p=172975767#post172975767 .

I don't know about moving service to another account.

* You can port out the phone number and the line will be disconnected, freeing up the i12 to be used in another account. I did that a few days after buying my Metro Moto Edge 2024. I ported out the number to Total Wireless. Freed up the Moto Edge for me to sell it on Ebay to a buyer who wanted to use it with his Metro account.
* If you don't have any place to port out the number, and have another inactive phone (unlocked or Metro phone), then transfer service from the i12 to that phone. That will also free up the i12.

Funny you mention this. Was trying to port to total wireless online. Goes to do phone number verification and my metro lines will not receive the message from total to with validation code. Did you port online or in store?

Metro may be blocking messages from total / Verizon.

I did the Total deals online. The text from Total is flaky, I have some phones that just never could receive that text from Total for no apparent reason. You can try to use different phone numbers, even those that you don't want to port out, to receive the text. When you activate the Total phone, you can port in a number that's different from the number that you used to receive the text.

Also, if you ported in a GV number to Metro and it's still "in limbo" (i.e. you can make outgoing texts/calls but incoming texts/calls still go to GV), then log into your GV account to read the text that Total sent.

It was an Xfinity mobile number prior. Thanks. Will try to do deal with one number and switch for activation to another number. Concerned about the deal tho as it is a promo to port into total. Any ramification if I cannot get total to work on port of new number and
I get a discounted phone?

Some people don't like the Total deal because you have to do the ID Verification which includes uploading pictures of your DL or ID card, and take a selfie. But they don't store your info and it expires after 10 days or so. I've bought six phones from Total, using 3 accounts in my name, wife's and daughter's. I ported in numbers from Metro and Google Voice without problems. At activation, it even shows you the option to Get A New Number. I don't know if it's a glitch or a real option so I didn't choose it because I don't want them to charge me full price later for not complying with the terms.

Indeed they use pubic records for identification. It doesn't matter if you're changing email address (which I believe is never used as source of id anyway), mailing address or credit card number. You will be blocked if your id has already been used for prior deals, though I do not know if they ever purge your id from their "blacklist" after a certain period of time.

I first used my id to play the game back in March and I thought an iPhone 12 for $100 + a month service was a good deal to be used for as a trade-in device with my carrier (Metro's parent company!) when the 16 series was released. In May I played the Samsung tab game using my wife's id as my own id had apparently been blocked. In August I used my son's id to play the tab game again. Almost all credit card numbers I used are shared in the family. And I also used the same address for all orders.

When iPhone 12 was dropped to $50 (and finally to $0), I wanted to play the game again, hoping I could just use carrier-locked 12's for trade-in since the 12's I purchased earlier had become unlocked and I could probably sell them for a decent price. So I tried my daughter's name. I got to the point when I was presented with some id verification questions. But none of the questions applied to her - she only turned 18 last month and apparently there's not much info about her yet. So it didn't work as apparently those questions are about someone who has the name name as my daughter. What a relief they have depleted the inventory of iPhone 12

I think they have also changed the algorithm to disallow more than two devices per account. Back in March or May, somebody discovered a trick to place multiple orders by connecting one of the Metro devices just activated to the Metro/T-Mobile network. But that trick didn't work for me in my August tab game.

BTW, a redditor posted that iPhone 13 will be available for $100 next week (https://www.reddit.com/r/MetroPCS..._now_free/). Not sure if that's going to happen as Metro doesn't even sell 13's. Maybe they'll have new shipments from Apple? In any case my love affair with Metro is over. I'll see if they get me off the blacklist next year

Quick question, has anyone traded in these phones into AT&T to get the iphone 16s? The guy in the store told me the traded in phones had to be unlocked but reditt says otherwise. Anything I have to watch out for or do to make sure these phones are accepted for trade in?
