Can we shift to $25 metro plan after first month?
Do you WANT to keep using Metro? You're not required to pay beyond the 1st month.

Quick question, has anyone traded in these phones into AT&T to get the iphone 16s? Anything I have to watch out for or do to make sure these phones are accepted for trade in?
I've never traded-in phones to AT&T. I've traded-in locked iPhones to Google Fi and to Best Buy Pixel 8 & 9 deals. They didn't care. You can trade-in locked iPhones to Best Buy for GCs (currently $145 for 64GB iPhone12). You can also trade-in locked iPhones to Apple for Apple GCs and accumulate them to buy a newer iPhone. For example: get 6 Metro iPhone 12's using multiple addresses at $75 + $35 for each pair (2nd one gets $40 discount on the plan). Trade them in to Apple for 6 x $160 = $960 in Apple GCs, enough to get an iPhone 16 or add $40 and get a iPhone 16 Pro.

If you activated the Metro iPhones with your Apple ID, make sure to log out, disable tracking of your iPhones, undo any SIM lock, and Reset the iPhones before trading-in.

I understand that. But the phone is locked for a year and I don't want to trade in.

I guess people put values on different things. I had Metro service off and on as part of doing the Metro deals. I never used the T-mo Tuesday Benefits. Most of them were trinkets: free drinking cup, free umbrella, free stadium cushion, BOGO Panda Express Meal, etc. Not worth my time driving to a T-mo store 5 miles away to get it, and especially not worth $25/month since I have (pretty much free) cell phone service with Tracfone until 2026.

Indeed they use pubic records for identification. It doesn't matter if you're changing email address (which I believe is never used as source of id anyway), mailing address or credit card number. You will be blocked if your id has already been used for prior deals, though I do not know if they ever purge your id from their "blacklist" after a certain period of time.

I first used my id to play the game back in March and I thought an iPhone 12 for $100 + a month service was a good deal to be used for as a trade-in device with my carrier (Metro's parent company!) when the 16 series was released. In May I played the Samsung tab game using my wife's id as my own id had apparently been blocked. In August I used my son's id to play the tab game again. Almost all credit card numbers I used are shared in the family. And I also used the same address for all orders.

When iPhone 12 was dropped to $50 (and finally to $0), I wanted to play the game again, hoping I could just use carrier-locked 12's for trade-in since the 12's I purchased earlier had become unlocked and I could probably sell them for a decent price. So I tried my daughter's name. I got to the point when I was presented with some id verification questions. But none of the questions applied to her - she only turned 18 last month and apparently there's not much info about her yet. So it didn't work as apparently those questions are about someone who has the name name as my daughter. What a relief they have depleted the inventory of iPhone 12

I think they have also changed the algorithm to disallow more than two devices per account. Back in March or May, somebody discovered a trick to place multiple orders by connecting one of the Metro devices just activated to the Metro/T-Mobile network. But that trick didn't work for me in my August tab game.

BTW, a redditor posted that iPhone 13 will be available for $100 next week (https://www.reddit.com/r/MetroPCS..._now_free/). Not sure if that's going to happen as Metro doesn't even sell 13's. Maybe they'll have new shipments from Apple? In any case my love affair with Metro is over. I'll see if they get me off the blacklist next year
How do you know the id was blocked? When you said ID, do you mean the name on the order?

YMMV- Last year, not all T-Mobile Tuesdays offers were available on metro. Mostly store pickup offers were not available in metro. Hope it might changed now.

By "ID", I meant the information they are using to uniquely identify you as a real person. I suspect they might be using the information you have supplied (your name, address, credit card number, etc.) to do a soft credit pull. If you're a new customer, you'll be presented some questions. If you answer them correctly, you'll be able to order and your identity will be stored in their system. If you don't pay to continue the service after the first month, you'll likely be blocked from becoming a new customer again. It doesn't look there's a household limit, though. So if you have another adult in your household, that person can become a new customer.

So it's futile if you try to alter your name, use a different card, or change the shipping address once you're flagged. You need a new person that they can identify to be real to set up a new account with them.
