How much do you expect for a non-carrier promotion for a 4-year old base model phone?

AT&T & T-Mobile offer $1K value for iPhone 12 with their premium plans. Many are buying it for trading in with their carrier. Already got a 12 from Metro last deal, which was $50 more.

Keeping my current phones (13 and higher) as spares so I can trade these in instead for less.

If you don't auto-pay or extend service, there is nothing to cancel. You just stop paying. Based on what I have read, device should auto unlock after 12 months from activation and continued service is not required.

Check out the unlock policy link I shared earlier.

After a failed port in, Metro held the number for about 6 to 8 hrs. Try again later
Works now to add but then when I click on the next page it shows
"Sorry, we are currently experiencing issues adding this item to your cart—please refresh and try again."
I'll try later

Yes, it will still get locked for 12 months. That's why I asked the other person if he planned to sell it as locked or unlocked. If he's going to sell it as locked, then there's no need to take it out of the box IF he has another phone on Metro to receive the security code to log in and transfer service from the i12 to another phone to free up the i12 so that the buyer can use it with their own Metro account.
Hi, my first iPhone 12s service runs out in 4 days. I received and activated my 2nd iPhone 12 today, sealed in box still.

Do I need to do anything other than just letting service lapse for the IMEI to be freed up? Like do I need to port out the 1st line? Or wait 60 days for the number to get recycled? Or I need to port out both lines?

Thank you for all the help you always provide

Anyways, I have ordered two phones in separate transactions. For the second one I used my wife's info (name, email, phone #, cc) and I also did it from a different device/ip address just to be safe. It all went smoothly.
But you won't get the discounted plan if you ordered the 2nd phone from another account.

Am I understanding correctly that the reason one would need to transfer the plan/service to another phone prior to selling their locked ip12 is to disassociate the ip12 from their Metro account? And you are saying that another Metro phone is needed to receive the security code, but can the service itself be transferred to any unlocked phone or does it have to be another Metro-locked phone?

I have just ordered a couple of these and want to make sure that I understand the process. I currently don't have another active Metro line so it sounds like I would not be able to sell both phones as locked if I were to keep them unopened?

We actually have a visiting relative who could use a plan, but since I currently don't have another active Metro line it sounds like I would not be able to transfer the service from one of the ip12's to his phone (which is unlocked) unless I were to open and activate one of the ip12's, is that right?

Also, what is the time limit for activating the service? I would like to transfer the service on the second ip12 for my relative's second month but I'm not sure if it is possible to wait that long before activating the service?

After a line's service runs out, Metro keeps it in Suspended status for 30 days before removing the device. I don't know if the device is still tied up during Suspension. The best way to ensure it gets freed up is to port out the line while it's still active. If its service just ran out, you can ask (in the account or call Metro) for a 72-hr extension to port it out.

Correct, but I'm hoping to order 2 more (a second discounted one from each account) once I receive these ones.

Earlier this month I ordered a Metro Moto Edge 2024 and a Moto G Stylus 5G 2024. Before selling those phones, I transferred their service to an inactive Metro Moto Razor 2023 and an unlocked Tracfone Samsung A51 with an inactive Metro SIM. I did it in the My Metro app in another active Metro phone. All went smoothly. Basically, if you still need to log into the account on a computer or a phone, always have an active Metro line to receive the security code.

I believe Metro automatically activates a device 21 days after shipping.

Some deals require a higher-cost plan. If you select a $50 plan and the phone shows the full price, then it needs a more expensive plan.

Got it, thanks. So worst case my relative will get around 1.5 months of service from these two plans if I were to use them back-to-back.

I was worried they may run out of stock soon, so I just went with $75 plan to secure it. Just got my order confirmation in the email too.
