How much do you expect for a non-carrier promotion for a 4-year old base model phone?

AT&T & T-Mobile offer $1K value for iPhone 12 with their premium plans. Many are buying it for trading in with their carrier. Already got a 12 from Metro last deal, which was $50 more.

Keeping my current phones (13 and higher) as spares so I can trade these in instead for less.

If you don't auto-pay or extend service, there is nothing to cancel. You just stop paying. Based on what I have read, device should auto unlock after 12 months from activation and continued service is not required.

I just activated my iphone 12. I logged into my Metro account. My account dashboard shows "Autopay is turned OFF" which is the default. Just as long as I leave the Autopay OFF and don't pay anymore via the "Pay now" button, I should be OK. I don't want to continue using Metro after the initial $75 first month. Is there anything else I should be aware off?

I think you've done Metro deals before. Nothing changed. Autopay is off by default. Metro will show the bill for the 2nd month, don't pay it. Account will be suspended on Day 31 from Activation, and Cancelled on Day 60.

You need to call them and talk to customer service who will set you up with a pin. It's a bug in their process - supposedly you should set up an account during the phone activation, but nothing like that happens.

You mite need a new SIM card for that to work. And you have to deactivate this current 12 by switch to a different device first.

It has been 1.5 years ago when I bought several of Metro's Moto G Stylus 5G and iphone 11 phones. I just want to make sure that I am not forgetting anything. The one thing that has changed is the 6 months unlocking period is now 12 months.

Nope. You pick an Account PIN during the ordering process, before getting to the Payment step. See attachment. Some people picked an Account PIN in the ordering process and forgot that they did. There's no account set up at Activation.

I tried to add a second line to my account, it gave an error after I entered the account number and PIN for the number I was porting in. Then when I went back to my account profile, the option to add a new line was no longer there. I then went to Phones & devices and clicked on iPhone 12 and on that page under Add a line it says "Sorry, you are not eligible to add a new line. Please contact support to discover the reason for ineligibility. 1-888-8metro8". I guess this means I have been blacklisted? I had previously purchased 2 iPhone 11's back in Feb, that's it.

Meanwhile, in NumberBarn the number is showing as being in the process of porting away ("This number is being prepped to move out of NumberBarn."). I hope this gets cancelled somehow, it is actually a decent number that I'd like to keep.

On the flipside, I was able to order a 2nd one using my wife's account (new to Metro). So I guess 3 for $185 ain't bad.
