Please don't be the person who shows up to play with your buddies with a range finder that gives you slope. While nobody will call you out, they will all think you are a scumbag.
Lol agree thats a fair point. But I will say that I've found that over the last couple years many good (+ side handicap) golfers are starting to utilize & talk about slope in non-tournament settings. It seems like the sport is starting to see a shift towards acceptance of slope, which i wasn't expecting

Everyone I've ever played with accepts and uses slope. We aren't in professional tournaments. Maybe it's less of a material impact in Texas where courses are generally flatter than other parts of the US. That being said, the video display on a handheld device seems a bit goofy if it isn't attached to a golf cart GPS screen.

This is wild. In our extended group of 40ish golfers, at least 35 of them use slope. Not allowed in tournaments of course but casual play for ghin eligible rounds? Absolutely ok.
I see this as valuable for someone who has issues seeing / reading a traditional finder? Maybe super thick glasses? Otherwise you look like a dork pulling this thing out damn

I've never witnessed or even heard of a golfer giving another golfer a hard time for using slope in casual rounds.

And id take a professional caddie over knowing slope all day but that's a luxury most of us amateurs do not have.

Agree..all the guys I play with use it. I don't because I have an older range finder without it..but I've played so long I can usually get within a yard or so just figuring it out

I see it the other way..look more like a dork with a normal range finder and I use one every time I play..look at this way..you take pics with your phone like this thing..you put your eye up to a little hole like 1985 Polaroid on a range finder..imagine if u still had to take a Pic with your phone like that

Yeah I guess looking through a optic is cringe but using a boomer device would lowers your handicap

I can see very casual players using it because it would have virtually no relevance to their game, but the thought of someone using slope in a league, or even lower handicap golfers playing with their friends, that's not the norm, at least at my CC or anywhere else I play around here.
