I just got the refurb V15 detect and it's amazing. I don't know how the V12 compares but the amount of dirt and hair these pick up in carpet is tremendous. And the "detect" is nice. I thought the thing was broken the first time it shut down the roller bar but realized it was just detecting it was in a hard surface floor and just uses vacuum when that happens. I k ow my comment is about the V15 and not the V12, but it suspect people will like the V12 as much as I like the V15.

V12 container is like half the size of v15 so these are good for apartment and condos or small homes but you will need to empty more frequently for larger homes. Might be worth trade off if you prefer lighter vacuum

I have one of these style (but older) Dyson vaccuums. They are great but if the battery dies while you're using it, you can't finish until it charges again. Amazon sells adapters that you can use your power tool batteries (DeWalt 20 volt, in my case). This allows me to swap batteries when one dies. Do yourself a favor and grab one of these. Easy install too.

The tool battery hack will not work with this model. Works great for v8 though.
