Do not confuse this with the xg 7000 pro, the xg 7000 is a very different drive. The xg 7000 uses a maxio controller (not mentioned in the official specs, but from what I've seen it's likely the MAP1602A) and ymtc nand (almost certainly 232 layer, but once again kingspec's official specs make no mention). This is a dramless drive with good sequential performance (though write performance can fall off heavily for large write operations) but somewhat more middling random 4k performance, particularly writes. That being said, while its performance is not quite on par with high end pcie gen 4 drives, it's likely sufficient for the average user. It's important to note that this drive doesn't support 4k sector size for raid. This drive should not be used in an external enclosure, since without hmb (host memory buffer) dramless drives suffer significant performance penalties. It has a 2400tbw endurance rating which is fairly standard for a 4tb tlc ssd, though it only has a 3 year warranty which is lower than the standard 5 years. The warranty information ( https://www.kingspec.com/support.html ) indicates that "Our company will cover the shipping costs to send the goods to the customer, while the customer is responsible for the return shipping costs." I've seen threads saying that you'd be required to send the drive to China for warranty, if that's still the case then the warranty might as well not exist.

The lack of professional reviews, limited number of customer reviews (with quite a few negative reviews), lacking information about exact specifications, and low brand presence in western markets would lead me to not recommend this drive for use as a boot drive or to hold sensitive information, particularly without robust redundancy/backups. For those looking to use this drive with a ps5, based on the specs this drive is ps5 compatible but multiple reviews indicate that the ps5 pops up a warning that the drive doesn't met the requirements and may cause slowdowns. On the other hand, multiple users mentioned it was working fine in their ps5. This drive was $182 with a bonus $15 newegg giftcard back in January. I personally don't think this drive is a good deal at $200, since 4tb drives from much more reputable brands can be found on sale occasionally at ~$230 (with rarer/more fleeting sales even lower).

Sounds similarly specced to the Silicon Power us75 which is $5 more, 5y warranty policy and available on Amazon

Just wait for mp44q to go on sale again for $200 or just pay extra $20 now.

I bought this drive last time it was on sale for $182 + $15 Newegg gift card in January.

Installed this in my Lenovo Legion gaming laptop, works well no issues and no complaints.

There is no DRAM on the non-Pro variants meaning no highspeed cache. So it will run super fast for a few seconds then slow to a crawl. The manufacturer also does not list TBW anywhere for this model. Personally I would avoid it. There are plenty of cheap 4TB gen4s around this price that have a robust TBW and DRAM cache.

See what it says next to the "thumbs down icon" on the click button? It doesn't say "not factual" it says "not helpful". So, yes, factual information that is not helpful gets td. As it should.
(whether you find it helpful does not mean others will)

This is actually a dumbed down conclusion and not based on experience with this product class. I get sustained rated write speeds for continuous minutes and while DRAM would be better, you're just not up to speed on the latest caching tech in these new SSDs.
