I'd Rather have this than a PS5. So there's that.

I have an Asus g15 laptop with Ryzen 9 and rtx 3070 from a couple years ago. How much better would this be for gaming ?

PS5 pro's graphics abilities are better than this, basically 4070 equivalent. The cheapest 4070 I can find right now is $525. This is a great system for the price tho, can't really compare the two. PC is much more open..

Essentially identical in performance. See the comparison here https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...vsm1445007

4060 desktop performs just 7% better.

The gpu won't be much better, but the cpu can be undervolted and overclocked and it will stay very cool. I just got rid of my Asus laptop with a 5980hx and a 6800m for a pc with this cpu and gpu and it's way better. On paper the laptop was good, but it would thermal throttle all the time. The noisy fans also drove me crazy. Now I'm getting up to 5.6ghz boost with temps in the low 70s.

Umm… they said in the announcement the PS5 pro is 45% faster than the original, which was closely benchmarked with the 2070, this would put it on par with the 3070 ti or 4060 maybe. I doubt they hit 4070 capabilities without a CPU upgrade

If you feel like building yourself, you can do much better components for about the same price just at microcenter:
Open box 4060 — $258 (3070 Ti open box refurb is about the same price and much better)
7600+mobo+16gb ddr5 —$299
Super flower 650W gold — $90 (can get better and cheaper elsewhere though)
1Tb sn770 SSD — $75 (again cheaper elsewhere)
Be quiet pure rock slim2 — $27
Open box Lian Li 216 — $65
Win Key online — $10
Total: $824
Yes price out refurb open box the same as brand new. Brilliant.

Microcenter open box excellent condition is basically new. The "open box refurb" is the 3070TI - but hard to find at each microcenter. The Lenovo deal above are garbage components. My list of components at just microcenter are significantly better. Going outside of microcenter beyond the GPU and combo, you can get significantly better than I posted. Just pointing out that this "deal" isn't that great of a deal given the components available from the same store.

Brilliant.

People are doing because of the price comparison for 100 more you're getting a better gaming product, plus the normal things a computer can do.
PS5 are for people that just want to plug and play so to speak.
PC gaming is the smarter way to game in all honesty

Slight error in the posting. The Ryzen 7600 is a 6-core/12-thread CPU, not 8/16. Not that it matters much for gaming, this is as fast or faster than the 5800X3D.

Otherwise this is a pretty solid deal that you'd be hard pressed to DIY at this price.
