I had been following prices on these hoping for an extra discount, got very disappointed when noticed they increased prices making the savings non existing after the coupon.
For reference, the animal 2 origin upright saved for later in my cart shows the $179.99 price, jumps to 209.99 when I open it now, the real discount is actually about 5%

I own the Animal Pro and I'm not sure how much better a vacuum can get.

Downside on all Dyson vacuums though- the build quality is horrible. You know those plastic eggs in vending machines at the grocery story that have toys in them for .50? That's the kind of plastic they used to build these things. Love the vacuum to death, but why is it built like that at this price point???

Will not recommend Dyson ever again. Had one that set itself on fire after a year. Sent in to warranty. One option is to drop off at a Dyson store or through UPS store. When UPS accepted them, they informed me they would get dozens a day. Got mine back "repaired" a week later. Died a few weeks after the warranty ended (motor burned out again) Only used for normal indoor vacuum use. Unit was a new purchase.

Bought a dyson refurb v11 a couple years back. 6 month warranty for refurb. Guess what happened at month 9? Yup, had to get a new body.

Are Dysons worth it or are they overhyped? Looking for a nice vacuum for my parents. Needs to have good suction and good battery life. Doesn't have to be upright. Stick is fine too, but obv don't want it to be too cumbersome to wield.

I bought some random brand from Amazon a few months ago and it was garbage. Poor suction, bad battery life, etc.
Worth it

Yep. A lot of their products are junk these days.

What's the difference between the Animal Pro & Animal 2 Origin?

I have the original Dyson Ball I believe from 8 years but feel like it slowed down this year and not the same results when first few years owning it
The Animal Pro is larger than the Origin. Some say because the ball is larger it's easier to maneuver. It has a larger dust bin, longer cord, but the overall dimensions are about the same.

Get a Sebo vacuum instead and never look back. Everyone here is correct, Dyson vacuums are just cheap colorful plastics with no longevity.

I like the suction on the Dysons but these models have a design defect that will kill them. The hair gets caught in the drive system and it destroys the drive. I was lucky enough to have one replaced under warranty but then it died again soon. With these being refribs you get shorter warranty. After my first one died the second time and was out of warranty I took a shot on a refirb. Worked okay for a bit then had a horrible loud noise. Service center was too far and I waited too long and then it kept being super loud until the hair design issue kicked in and destroyed the vacuum. I think they fixed this design flaw in the ball animal 3. Retails for $400+. By then I was grouchy with Dyson and just bought a Shark Navigator (forget specific model) for $120 clearance at Walmart. Works great. Detachable canister is nice. Suction is good. The head size is smaller (about 12") so you still get good suction with the Shark, just takes longer to vacuum. For the $280 dollar price difference vs. the new Dyson Animal series I'm happy with my Shark. I do still like the Dyson, but if you buy these - you need to clean & CUT out the hair on the drive after each use. We have pets, so you might not have a problem if you don't have pets or daughters! Good deal on these for sure. Just know the risks on this model. I do miss my Dyson.

Found it: Bought at Walmart, Feb. 2024, In store clearance, $118 back then,.

These are very heavy and cumbersome. Go for the portable versions instead. They do the job and are not as heavy and bulky. N'ah mean?

Except that "heavy" can be a plus with a vacuum as it helps with deep cleaning. And when "bulkly" = wide, then you get more cleaning done with each pass... N'ah mean?

Yeah, I agree. I mean everyone complains about how cheaply made the portable ones are, but want something that lasts with the same results as the big upright vacuums. Gotta either be happy with a light vacuum that you can pick up and go anywhere with or a mid-sized vacuum with great suction that will last 5+ years.

Just had to file a claim with squaretrade for the Dyson animal I ordered as part of this deal. I began to smell burning plastic. Turns out there is a design flaw with this model where fur gets pulled into the motor peg which heats up and melts the plastic wall that protects the ball bearing encasement. I dismantled the brush head (5 - 6 torx T10 screws) and sure enough the hole which was originally about half an inch in diameter (slightly bigger than the peg so the peg could fit through the wall) had melted so much that the hole was a full inch in diameter and I could see a lot of the ball bearing encasement. The hole was also filled with a putrid mix of fur and plastic. Cleaning it out released some of the most toxic dust I've ever seen.

Squaretrade claim was shockingly easy. First, they offered me a few non-Dyson replacement options, but each of them was missing a feature the Dyson had. I asked if they could just give me a full refund and they did. All my claim said was I smell toxic burning plastic, I'm guessing this is a known issue.

If you do continue to use the vacuum, I highly recommend regularly removing those 5 - 6 screws and removing any fur around the peg. My concern is the screws seem to strip very easily and I would eventually not be able to remove them. It doesn't appear they are asking me to return the vacuum, but I honestly just want to get a different one, this design flaw is just too much work to deal with.

Actually this video has a good suggestion, just move some of the brush bristles so that they are inside the motor peg housing and so should catch fur before it gets pulled into the peg.
