I bought 10 of them when they came out. battery lasted around 8 months on average, very bad UI to locate the tags, needs major overhaul. location map is confusing and not doesnt pinpoint you the correct location. the close range detection only works once you are 20 inches away from it, making it useless.

Thanks OP. In for some extras.

One thing that annoys me with these... I have an android. When I try sharing my Smartthings with my wife who has an iPhone (so she doesn't have to ping me whenever she wants know where my kids busses are), all the devices from my smartthings account show on her phone other than Smarttags. I'm not sure why that is... If anyone has any ideas, please share Smilie

Also, here is a post of mine from the previous thread which expired pretty quickly in case it helps someone:
"We have both these and Airtags (I have an Android, wife has iPhone) on my kids knapsacks. In my area, the Samsungs track more frequently than the Airtags, plus the Samsung shows location history which I don't believe the Airtags do (at least I can't figure it out).

One thing that really puzzles me is that I have two boys on the same bus with Smarttags, yet often one tracks in one location while the other doesn't and vise versa even though they are sitting right next to each other. I have no idea why that happens but it's puzzling.

I rarely need to change the batteries."

Even with Googles new software it's barely working since they allow users to opt out. And I can never get an alert when I set it up that it reaches certain radius of a location

I have questions about apple air tags. If I put one on my car and it was stolen, could the thief locate it somehow with a device? Obviously if I put it in an obvious spot they could remove it but I know nothing about air tags. I'm a lifelong android user

off course they can. using any app, they can force the AirTag to turn on the siren. this is why people remove the airtag's speaker. super easy to do

I prefer the earlier version. I get endless random chirps as many others do as well.

Samsung user here. Wife has iphone.
I have like 8 air tags and those things work flawlessley. I wish they worked on android.

Now we have a new find network? Cant trust investing in anything that might change in two years. I really wish android wasnt all over the place. I think that is its weakest flaw.

FYI to take full advantage of these, your Samsung phone needs to have ultra wide-band (UWB), which only the high end galaxy devices have.

So the reason why Apple's Airtag works is because Apple doesn't give you the option to opt out. On the rother hand. Google privacy settings have an option for you to disable it. It's not because Android network suck, it is just more secure. Even though I have an android, my wife has an iPhone and we use Airtags to track our luggage when travelling. It works all the time.

The thief's phone will get a notification that an airtag is tracking them. It asks them to help find it.

Apple chose to help stop stalking at the expense of theft tracking.
