Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

Both openwrt and dd-wrt are too complicated for simple functions. I tried to love them but I couldn't convince me. Fresh tomato is the best.
Fresh Tomato made to work on the Ln1301?

No. LN1301 is qualcomm router, so no fresh tomato.

There's something called "Google". Have you tried it?

so use that. verizon gave me the same thing. let the modem/router hande all the DHCP ip assignments etc. put your linksys devices into bridge mode. hardwire your master node to the xfinity gateway. then hardwire the other linksys child notes to your master node. this way you will have wired backhaul supporting every node and serving your entire home. all IPs assigned by the xfinity gateway -- port forwarding etc. and your linksys devices will merely serve wifi throughout the home. can use the lan ports on them also if needed.

and i woudl turn off the wifi on the xfinity gateway -- both the 2.4 and 5ghz channels. they arent needed.
Can you go over "then hardwire the other linksys child node to your master node"?

I have the master node bridged and connected to my modem/router.

But how do I get back into the master node after bridging? Right now I'm using the default wifi on the parent node to wirelessly connect and trying to CA but the child node is not responding

I need a wifi 6e router for- same room game streaming. Any pointers?
Yeah - use ethernet. WiFi is too susceptible to interference and not as reliable for a best case setup

You can switch from ddwrt back to stock firmware. They have a link to the stock firmware on the ddwrt page. I went to ddwrt and then back again when I was trying to see if this router would support wifi bridges.
Oh perfect, did not realize that. Thank you. Need to start playing with then. Can you run DD-WRT and Open-WRT on the two different boot partitions? I guess you could?

I'm so confused by all the info and hope someone more knowledgeable can help.

What's the best way to set 3 of these up to cover a house with all of them wired over ethernet? Can I stay on stock firmware, or do I need to flash to something else? Do I need to enable mesh, or is just setting them up as 1 router and 2 wired APs sufficient?
Not sure if you already found answers.

Right out of the boxes these seem fast and stable enough. Setup stock first can always change.

What are you replacing? Is your Internet modem WiFi combo going to still be used.

I only use these for my FiOS no Verizon router so was easier. But even if you have both working to start you can contact ISP to disable their Wi-Fi or eliminate their router or enable pass-through later once all working. Even with double nat and other messes it will still be working and you can fix.

The sticky post at the top of all of these threads.

There's a few ways to setup so expect to setup and if all works you might still change it to have it work better for you.

Id bet half of everyone setup the "wrong" way but if WiFi dead spots less and speed same or better...fine for now.

Take your time, it will take time for settings to work before you click for add node.

First setup only one.

Note there's a power switch in the bottom. You probably will want to power off and on your cable/FiOS modem router WiFi combo. Then plug in the first Linksys which we will call parent node.

Once this is working and seems faster or same...can add a second Linksys. At first setup right next to the parent to wire it to the first. I'd use laptop and browser not mobile app.

I did use the app without a Linksys account and just used info on bottom to login to to WiFi to change network pwd and name but think browser it easier.

You will need to look at the bottom of the Linksys setup page for small letters CA click to see mesh menus.

Even if you plan on having wired backhaul to each click on the ads wireless node and wired node. I did and have moved around as wifi and wired. Just once a child wired node don't plug network into Internet port. Use the second orange marked one or it will stay on WiFi I think.

Setup Parent Node
-UNPLUGGED ATT MODEM AND PLUGGED BACK IN
-PLUG CHARGER INTO LINKSYS#1
-CONNECTED ETHERNET CABLE FROM ATT MODEM>TO LINKSYS#1 INTERNET PORT
-CONNECTED PC ETHERNET TO ETHERNET PORT #3 OF LINKSYS#1
-TURN ON POWER SWITCH ON BOTTOM>LIGHT EVENTUALLY TURNS SOLID BLUE (READY FOR INTERNET)
-WEBBROWSER ENTERED: myrouter.local (192.168.1.1 DOES NOT WORK)>SIGN IN>ACCESS ROUTER:ENTER PW FROM BOTTOM>SIGN IN
-CONNECTIVITY>TIMEZONE EASTERN>APPLY>INTERNET SETTINGS TAB>TYPE OF INTERNET CONNECTION>EDIT>SAYS "AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION-DHCP"-NO CHANGES

CHILD NODES ONLY:
3-Plug your base/child nodes (LINKSYS #2,#3,#4...) using the INTERNET PORT (NOT LAN PORTS) to "LINKSYS#1/PARENT"-ANY ETHERNET PORT#1>TURN ON #2,#3,#4>wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding(reboot if needed)

4-Log into your main router web admin: myrouter.local

5-Click on CA at the bottom right.

6-Click on Connectivity ON LEFT SIDE>CLICK TAB: CA Router setup.

7-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons(IF NOT CLICKABLE CLICK-DONE ADDING CHILD NODES THEN CLICK AGAIN) (DONT CLICK DONE ADDING CHILD NODES YET). Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

8-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply. (IF CLICKING APPLY DOES NOT MAKE COLOR FLASH MEANS YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED TO INTERNET PORT)

9-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue (IF DONT TURN BLUE>POWER OFF THEN ON).

10-Disconnect Ethernet CABLE FROM LINKSYS #2 INTERNET PORT and wait for blue light again.

11-Move node to desired location

12-repeat for all other child nodes:>CLICK OK> GOTO STEP #3
