Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

Got this one yesterday. Setup was easy. Speed is awesome, range is great. One problem I am facing is the speed goes down over time and have to restart this device again. Suggestions how to fix it?

Yeah, it's a Canon D530 - only USB and no WiFi/networking according to the specs. (it's my parent's printer and I'm wondering if I can get this set up for them using the USB on this Linksys as a print server to share it to the network)

I have the same model. I cannot figure out how to share it over my old Netgear router.
Most routers don't support sharing a printer connected via USB. You can do it with OpenWrt or DD-WRT with some effort and only basic support. A Raspberry Pi (any model) is another option that's potentially cheaper, faster, and can support Air Print/Mopria/scanning functions. That will require some effort too, but there are good guides out there.

What if the purple light on the child remains solid purple after adding the child node? I was able to set up the main router but the child node remains purple and never flashes blue.

Got it. Had to rename the network first. Not sure why but it works

I am trying to use Ethernet back haul for 2 child nodes, only one child node shows as connected to Ethernet, even though I have connected the Ethernet cable to both via unmanaged switch. The second child node only connects via WiFi using with -57 dBm signal strength. Not sure how to force it to use Ethernet backhaul.

It is very flaky. Whenever I have to shutoff any of my 3 child nodes, when it comes back on it always connect via WiFi. I'd have to fiddle with it for a while, power off and move the Ethernet to a different port etc, and it will usually reconnect via Ethernet. Just today it happened on my garage node. Powered it off to clean up and cable manage, and it refuses to connect via Ethernet even though I didn't even unplug any of the cables.

Do you guys know which of the 5GHz band it uses for the backhaul?

I have another one coming in. When I set it up I'm going to click only add wired nodes and leave wireless not clicked and see if it makes any difference.

Edit: just now I moved the Ethernet cable that was directly connected to the back of the main unit to one on a switch, powered it off and back on and it reconnected via Ethernet. This is same port I moved another child node off of when I did this dance last Confused

Accidentally flashed sysupgrade (instead of factory) to the other partition during an update, but I was able to recover using serial. Couldn't get the other partition to boot (by switching it on/off 3 times in a row in quick succession). System wouldn't come up at all, but it took me to a simple uboot shell.

Disassembly was easy, just pop off the top using guitar picks/pry tool and then there's four screws, then the body slides out. The pinout for the serial connection is here: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/inde...%5Bedit%5D Serial was 3.3V and 115200 baud rate.

Had to run a TFTPD64 server on my PC (local IP set to 192.168.1.100, router was 192.168.1.1) and rename the stock firmware "FW_MX4300_1.0.4.215382_prod.img" to "tortuga.img". Then use the command "tftpboot" on the router followed by "run flashimg" (or "run flashimg2" for the other partition). Probably could have flashed factory at this step instead of the stock firmware.

Yeah someone else mentioned that. I'll try openwrt or ddwrt.
p910nd works on openwrt. Check out https://github.com/arix00/openwrt...0/releases which works with kernel mods

Same issue on my end. I'm going to try to return them. Not sure how much I'd get back though cause woot charges for return shipping.

I have a parent and 1 child node hooked up for about a month now from the last $20 Amazon sale. I thought the child node was connected via wired backhaul but your comment made me double check and to my surprise, it's connected via WiFi. I'll try to fiddle with the online settings and shuffle the Ethernet cable across other ports to see if that fixes things. Either way, I'm still very satisfied since this fixed a few issues I was having around the house with my old router.

I had the same issue, the fix for me was the old IT turn it off and on again, making sure the wired backhaul was online and connected to the WAN port before plugging it back in

Anyone know what the "set up another network" in the app does????

Website explains the other options but not this one.

Connected to the same switch?

My suggestion is reset the persistent node and try to repair again with Ethernet backhaul. It seems the node seeing wireless has better connection.

Seems many also have trouble with the child nodes with ethernet backhaul. I'll quote myself for some context.

So last night after restarting one of the child nodes for the 3rd time, it showed that it connected via Ethernet. Then hours later I checked again and it went back to wifi for whatever reason. Just for fun this morning, I moved the Ethernet backhaul cable from the WAN port to LAN on that child node. Powered off and on and it reconnected over Ethernet. It reconnected much more quickly too - the red light blinked 3 times and it turned solid blue.
