single walled tent (no interior mesh layer) - this thing is going to be a condensation kingdom. Maybe for really dry climates it would be ok. Otherwise, you may want to keep looking.

Agree 100%, and thank you for pointing that out.

In addition to the obvious issue of condensation, the tent fabric is only treated to 1200mm PU - marginal water resitance when brand new, but god awful after the slightest bit of wear. The tent floor is a laughable 1500mm PU. The norm for a tent floor is 3000mm PU. And all those exposed seams. The unprotected pole sleeves will form obvious drip channels too.

North Face should be ashamed to put their name on this piece of garbage. Sometimes there's a reason why a retailer is blowing out a product at a bargain basement price.

Isn't single wall easier to set up? Plus there are vents in tent and mesh on the door and rear window, which should help with condensation? I have not tried a double walled tent yet, but once the rain fly is setup I imagine it would have the same condensation issues?

Attaching the top cover is 5min. There should be no doubts about not having top cover at all. Condensation and windows are nothing comparing you waking up under heavy cold rain in the middle of the night. Some top covers are also have UV light protection layer.

Single wall is definitely easier to set up, but modern tents are so easy to set up now, especially if you're not trying to save weight. Even in drier climates, you'll get condensation just from breathing and two walls will be worth it. The condensation will collect on the rain fly and, if designed and set up correctly, drop away from the inner tent.

I'm looking for a 6p tent for family car camping. In the $200 range. Got any suggestions or for shopping.

If you haven't already, set up a deal alert for "tent". Several excellent deals popped up in recent months for quality (double-walled) tents from tier one brands like Mountain Hardware, Big Agnes, Marmot, REI, etc, including some 6 person models.

If you see a promising deal post on a smaller tent, it's worth clicking through to the vendor site. Often the entire model range is on sale, including larger sizes you're interested in.
