These are quite useful. A regular recprocating saw is heavy and requires 2 hands,. This is one and great to cut thick branches and roots. I would buy it if I didnt already own one. Get a demolition blade with this.
Its a low TPI (5-7) blade typically used for demolition work. Used to make quick cuts through multimaterial. Does fast work through branches, roots. Wont get destroyed cutting roots. The blades that come with the saw are mediocre and you wont appreciate the tool until you get a decent blade.
Not bad but fyi they released an updated version that is supposedly quite a bit better. I have the old one and it's fine but if I was buying now I'd probably get the new version. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI.../329062475

I bought a used one and it works great. I love using it. Highly recommend it. If you can get it for this price, it'd be the same price for a used one in the market!

The new one has 1/4" longer stroke, 3200rpm vs 3000 rpm, and variable speed vs fixed speed. Both are brushless. Not sure the difference is worth $60. with the 7/8" vs 5/8" stroke, it should cut a bit faster. I have the older model, and it works just fine.

I have one of these I bought at like $90 or so.. they are great devices.. the hump on the top is annoying but pretty balanced overall. Trying to decide if it warrants a 2nd unit or wait to see if the new one is worth it though I doubt it at the higher price, even with variable speed, I haven't found much this one couldn't handle as is.

Does a demo blade work better on branches and roots than a pruning blade designed for branches and roots?

I've had good success with a pruning blade for that, but it never occurred to me to try a demolition blade.
