The s1 is hardly a relic, solid upgrades on this over a base ender 3. At under $70 that's a crazy good value.

If someone wanted to get into 3D printing, I'd say this is the best option. Affordable and easy low-cost upgrades for all-metal hotend, PEI bed, lights, firmware, coolong duct, OctoPrint. Meanwhile, it has auto bed leveling that takes away my #1 frustration when I started. Owning this machine will still teach you about printing, though.

If someone wants to just 3D print and not "get into" 3D printing, go with Bambu Labs.

Your comment makes no sense. I started on a Ender 3 v2. People should start cheap and figure if they want to spend more on this hobby before spending a lot on "easier" printers. It's not that hard to level a bed.

Edit: forgot to mention, I called them a bit ago and asked when they would restock. They didn't provide when they would restock, but they mentioned that these printers have a "high priority" noted on them for restock. Not sure if this is the same for other stores, but its worth keeping an eye out for them.

Agreed. 3D printing has moved on. This is E waste at this point when you can buy an A1 mini for $200 that will just print. I am sure commenters will jump in and say "The S1 is a great value, you just need to buy x, y, z and a few other things to make it print sometimes, but it will be a great learning experience." I have no desire to learn how to fix printers, I just want to print my CAD drawings. No different than owning a laser printer, it is just a tool.

YMMV but my store was having stock issues displaying online. They had a few pallets, for 49.99. Signed up as a "new member" and got $15 off $30. Made the purchase $38.XX after tax. I purchased 3 just because of the price.
