After 15 years of jog one ownership, I can easily say that Apple's silicone cases are the best case I've ever used on an iPhone.
With 3 caveats 1) Durability 2)Price 3)Pocketability

After 3 months it will show wear and a small chip or two, and after 6 months you should probably just get a new one. I've tried various different third party silicone cases on Amazon, along with near exact Apple case replicas on aliexpress over the years. Ironically, Aliexpress $4-7 cases are the closest thing I've tried, and overall quality, case fit and finish are damn near the same. I wouldn't even bother with the third parties because the replica has the same dimensions and I find Apple has nailed the formula of case thickness to protection ratio.

The ONLY thing about the Aliexpress knockoffs is that the case feel is off. The silicone is still as durable as Apple's, if not more. But there's something about the slickness and smooth feel of the Apple case that has never been matched by any other case. I know I sound like a crazy Apple sycophant, but since I've had so many of them I've noticed the differences over the years. I would honestly spring for the Aliexpress cases-make sure they have sold a lot of them and have good reviews and you'll likely get some good replicas… they even include the Apple logo! đŸ˜‚ This is the best strategy because you can easily buy like 6 of these cases for the same price as one, and since they wear out similarly in about 6 months you have no worries and don't feel like a fool for buying a $30-50 semi disposable case.

For both the replica and genuine Apple the third downside is the gripiness, which is also its best feature as well, until you have to pocket it. I rarely drop my phone because of how much grip I have with the silicone, and if I do it's a great material for absorbing impact. Pair that with Apple's modern phones and you have a very lightweight, grippy case that will never break. BUT, pocketing this case is a bit of a pain. It fights you, especially on Jean pockets, doubly so if they're skinny jeans. It likes to grip to the sides of the pocket so you sometimes have to use both hands and push it down, and it's a pain in the ass to so it while sitting as opposed to standing.

HUGE bonus is that it never falls out of the pocket, pretty much ever. I've worn really loose gym sweatpants that are notorious for a phone to slide out of and it rarely happens. I tried running my phone caseless but it's too stressful with how easy the phone slides out.

There will be a difference in feel of the silicone being slightly more gummy/sticky, especially as it wears. The stickiness from worn silicone will happen to the official cases as well, just less pronounced.

Lots of people are instead going for these Apple silicone cases right now because most third-party case manufacturers released cases with a cutout for the new Camera Control button rather than a capacitive touch-compatible button like these cases have.

Have my fingers crossed that my preferred case makers will be releasing updated versions soon.

Clear case is there … the Apple branded one I used on my 13 pro for 3 years and never turned yellow … so I will get one for my 16 pro now ..

Hopefully it will stay long

Otterbox has a variation (Lumen series). So does Supcase and their sister brand iblason. Currently mine is sitting in the beats case but I'm hopeful the cheaper Supcase (arriving Monday) is better.
Spigen also has camera control versions of some of their 16 Pro / Pro Max cases. Spigen cases are developed and made in South Korea instead of China for those that want to avoid China where possible. Some of their screen protectors and that are made in China though so just have to check unfortunately.

I love Spigen stuff though, have yet to break a phone screen, although I don't drop them much. My 13 Pro Max was in a Spigen case for three years and I just took it out and aside from a little lint build up here and there it looks like new.

That's the thing, by their very nature the Speck and Otterbox cases I normally buy for myself and my wife have expanded sides to cushion for drop impacts. Seems to me that those particular cases will either need a very deep passthrough capacitive button, like the Apple silicone cases but thicker, or to remain with the cutout. I didn't like the cutout in my Speck Presidio2 Grip cases the day I received my iPhone 16 Pro... But after a week with it now I've gotten used to it and find it still a worthwhile tradeoff for the protection it affords me (Been using Speck cases since iPhone 4).

I came so close to ordering that sweet-looking Ultramarine Apple Silicone case just now to play with... It's a FOMO thing as well. the discount code on Woot! these are "only" $29.99 there right now. Alas, I have jumped on Woot! deals for these in the past, when they got down to like $10, and I ended ups hating the Apple case so much for its lack of grip and lint-magnet capabilities - I'm used to the tactile grooves on the Presidio and CandyShell lines I guess.

Oh well, if you like these cases this is a fantastic deal for now considering how soon after launch it is! I wonder what Apple will inevitably replace FineWoven with now that pretty much everyone agrees it sucks lol.

Looks like the very deep passthrough capacitive button is on the way for the Otterbox Defender:

Symmetry naturally less deep:

Oh look at that, looks like their upcoming Luma series will have a slim border that will allow capacity passthrough (ie. probably a strip that is thinner directly over the camera slider itself). Yeah as far as the case cutouts, I wasn't a fan of the Commuter/Symmetry cases leaving the edge of the phone exposed entirely like that. At least the Speck case I have on it now still has a thin rubberized border over it. Exposed 90 degree metal edges on Apple products are just screaming to be nicked or gouged lol.

Awesome deal on a well reviewed case. I'm super tempted to grab one. Too bad Ultramarine isn't one of the colorways.

Why have these been discounted so much since they came out? Are they that bad?

rip offs, no clear case , no matter what brand survives yellowing after 3 months of use
also such a simple magsafe case shouldn't cost you more than $5
It's not how much something should or shouldn't cost… it's how much people are willing to pay.

My wife will only use the genuine Apple Silicone Case.

It's a nice case, but unlike virtually every other case manufacturer, there is really no warranty or replacement. When it falls apart within 12 months (which it will), you will have to buy a new one.

For the same price, Spigens are better.

Why do you think there's no warranty?

I now only buy official Apple cases directly from Apple. They're covered by a 1 year warranty and have brought them in many times for scuffs or scratches or peeling at the 1 year mark or sooner for a brand new one. Have never been refused even with minor damage. All phone cases get beat up within a year or sooner. So it's like getting 2 for the price of 1 and worth it to me to pay full price for the warranty. If you buy an official case elsewhere, they don't honor the warranty. I'm not sure if they will warranty the replacement case as I usually get a new phone every 2 years with my cellular plan.

They also let you change to a different color of the same case if you want to change the color a year later. Just my opinion. But if not from Apple this is a very good price assuming it's genuine.
Sometimes they dont honor the change, arguing that is regular wear which is not cover by warranty, bought in Apple happened twice

ya..but no camera conductive button since Apple didnt release the rights to any 3rd party for newer IP16 Pro phone cases...never got an Apple case but I believe I have to this time
Apple is trying to kill 3rd party market by lowering the price on cases and not allowing the manufacturers release fully functional cases

Apple greed but if I want my 1k IP16 Pro to function as intended I have to get a genuine Apple case
Spigen does have a condutive button for their new camera button. Got to be careful and select the "A T" varient on amazon.
