I bought and returned this at $75. The audio quality was terrible. Even using an external amp, the audio quality was disappointing.

It has gone the way of Old School Pioneer. It's just the name now, the products are junk.

*** By the end of 1990s, Nakamichi failed to transition properly. In 1998, it was acquired by Grande Holdings, a Chinese company based in Hong Kong. Grande Holdings included electronics companies Akai and Sansui. Niro Nakamichi left in 1998 to set up Mechanical Research Corporation***

I don't have CarPlay in my bmw but would like to see and work with it . ? Any thoughts. I hope if that could work without the need to remove or change your existing display and this can work as an auxiliary display device??
For my old truck, I got a CarPlay device similar to the Garmin GPS units that stick to the windshield. I'm running the audio through a cassette tape converter, and it works pretty well for maps and podcasts. I purchased mine from AliExpress, but you can also find them on Amazon by searching for 'portable CarPlay'—they're around $50.

I have two of these units installed and no issues with CarPlay for me. It plugged my phone into the jack on the front of the radio.
I used a better cable and it's working now!

Radio definitely sounds bad, like it has a lot of statics. Bluetooth sounds better though.

Yup, tactile buttons let you keep your eyes on the road. Though this one does at least have a dedicated spot to the far left. I suppose with decent muscle memory you'd get used to it.

I'd spend $25 more to get this, which includes wireless android auto and wireless carplay.

The USB 2.0 camera is HD?

I bought a this double din android auto for 89.99 back in February on woot! and I have had zero issues with it. No issues with audio quality or installation which was easy. I installed this as a replacement of an already retrofitted single DIN radio bought from crutch field so it came with the single or double DIN kit from crutchfield (free of charge). This is for a Honda fit 2009 sport trim model.

I have made the following mods:
1- I added android auto wifi via a USB dongle so that I connect to the unit wirelessly (I hot soldered the cable to the unit so that this is hidden). So, no more cables.
2- I added two capacitors in parallel and two Schottky diodes to protect the circuit. This allows me to get power as I am starting my car as the car stop feeding to the radio when I crank it sometimes. This leaves the radio on for about 5 seconds after I remove the ignition key.
3- bought a good microphone for it and it works very well
4- I had a backup/dash board camera with the display feeding to the rear mirror that now feeds to the display for larger size back and front display of the cameras.
5- I added remote control to the unit so that I can control it from my car's steering wheel

I am pretty happy with it besides I paid more that the cost now and that I cannot figure out why the unit does not keep the time current (minor issues since I use android auto nearly all the time). Frown

I have bought a steering reel control so I can control the volume, calls etc. from the steering wheel.

I have no experience with this unit or brand, many got it recently so seems to be junk but work. For many cars that's all you want. I used similar dual brand in my seldom used pickup just for backup camera. Hate it for my daily driver as too frequently rebooted when using for GPS. For seldom use pickup it's fine to have backup cam.

I later switched to Chinese junk but way better ATOTO ant it's available from Amazon or eBay refurbished for $150 or $120 depending on model. I used for years $120 refurb after using non refurb same model in other daily driver.

Wireless android auto and car play is built in and works reliability every day. It doesn't reboot or reset like a he dual did monthly.

This is posted unit is different than junk Walmart dual I have but generic might be similar problems.

ATOTO is super basic audio quality but 2 I installed is only a little more $. It has a decent reputation. I had one not working well during installation and they quickly shipped replacement. ( I could have reset it but didn't want to risk faulty unit)

I say pay a bit more so only pay once cry once...not have to rip radio out and upgrade in a year.

Remember will need to pay for adapter bezel and harness.
