First of all, a lot of movies are not free. You need to be subscribed to whatever platform they are on. And they can disappear or move on a whim. Second, even if you purchase digital, they can vanish. Redbox anyone? If there is a movie or show I really like,I buy physical. It is mine and stays that way. I agree about DVD. Only buy Blu-ray of 4K. If you want to chance online, good. I stream lots of stuff myself. But things I don't want to vanish, I buy disks.

Name one modern movie that was turned into digital format and has disappeared off the face of the earth? Even if you find one (doubt it), no cares about that movie anyway. Yes, SOME movies may not be found for free simply because no one cares about them enough to upload it. Those are the movies you won't be watching either. Anyone can watch just about anything, even PPV......for free. There is nothing more tacky than walking into a house with racks full of DVDs. It's not 1997 anymore and It's also a waste of space.
I was halfway through Battlestar Galactica on Peacock when they gave up the rights and it disappeared off all streaming services. True it was available for purchase (at a few bucks per episode) but it wasn't included in any single streaming service for nearly a year. I see now it's newly available through Prime Video, but who cares now, I have the blu-ray set.
