Too little, too late. Spotify ate their lunch. Their move to a subscription pricing model was a slap on the face for those that had paid to buy their app. And limiting access to their desktop app was another terrible idea.

I'll definitely give it a shot because Youtube Music is atrocious for podcasts. Google Podcasts was solid. Shame they did their Google thing yet again and ruined it.

As someone who did pay to buy their app, I remember that while they initially said I would have to pay a subscription they quickly reversed that and gave a lifetime membership to purchasers. I can't remember if I had to accept that offer within a certain window but it may be worth logging back into your account.

Credit card or PayPal required to sign up
immediate cancellation doesn't seem to end the membership period (as OP said)

https://i.imgur.com/OowfeWZ.png Seems to have worked for me. I subscribed with a credit card, then immediately cancelled. It stated my subscription was good until the date indicated in the picture.

I was fine tossing them a few dollars a month above what irrc was like $12 yearly sub, but around a year ago or a bit more the yearly sub went up to $99. Nice deal if you miss them, or want to try them out. But, make sure it doesn't renew (at the current $39).

I don't see a clear value proposition over the Apple Podcasts app (which is free) other than cross platform syncing. Pass…

This offer is for their Plus subscription, which is only $39/year. The $99/year is their Patron level, and has nothing that makes it worth it over the Plus.

Not sure if the apple podcasts app has a trim silence function but it's fantastic.
