Too little, too late. Spotify ate their lunch. Their move to a subscription pricing model was a slap on the face for those that had paid to buy their app. And limiting access to their desktop app was another terrible idea.

I'll definitely give it a shot because Youtube Music is atrocious for podcasts. Google Podcasts was solid. Shame they did their Google thing yet again and ruined it.

As someone who did pay to buy their app, I remember that while they initially said I would have to pay a subscription they quickly reversed that and gave a lifetime membership to purchasers. I can't remember if I had to accept that offer within a certain window but it may be worth logging back into your account.

Have you ever seen or used Pocketcasts? I use the free version now as my podcast app. It has cool features where you can trim silence in your podcasts, start podcast minutes into the podcast to skip over initial ads or end sooner to avoid the ending filler,etc. I tried alot of podcast apps few years ago before settling on Pocketcasts. I don't pay for the Premium cause I don't use the Desktop app at all.

I landed on podcast republic after my old app started locking previously free features behind a subscoption. Podcast republic has all those features you mentioned and is free as well.

No clue why people would pay a subscription for something that has so many free alternatives with just as many features

I'm pretty happy with the free version of Overcast, but I kind of want to try this out. I'm just afraid that if I end up liking it better I'm setting myself up to be disappointed in a year when this trial runs out.

I have tracking blockers on my network which made this a little tricky. I was able to get this to work by going to podnews (dot) net. I searched for pocketcast.

I can vouch for this. My initial app purchase was converted to a lifetime subscription.

I thought they were worth the purchase of the app when I did, and I don't really purchase apps like that, as they were the best one with the features I was looking for, at the time.

The last time I used Apple Podcasts, it forced me to download the podcasts onto the limited storage on the device I had, rather than allow me to stream them. For me, not having the option was a deal breaker.

Thanks OP! I was a die hard Google Podcasts user, and had to scramble to find a replacement. This one has been my new goto (free version), so I excited to try the full version !
