35mm film contains at least as much detail per frame as 4k digital, maybe more.

True, but how well is that preserved nearly 100 years later? Is this a new transfer to 4k or upscaled? Not that up-scaling is necessarily a bad thing.

Good question. All matters on how good the film they use to scan, artifact removal on the film, it they mess up with noise reduction and other filters. Universal Pictures released the movie so the original film may be good quality.
For the price I had to pick it up. It comes with the blu ray too and digital 😊
