Also turn off the Auto Payment enrollment by going into your account settings and in case if your payment details are stored in your account, remove it to avoid automatic payment for the following month(s).
Don't remove the SIM card from the phone after the first month service is ended. Keep it until phone is fully unlocked after 60 days.
