I have Firestick 4K version and I have been streaming 4K content with Kodi with no issues.
Got 20% off plus a $5 instant gift card for trading in an older Fire TV Stick 4K for a current gen 4K Max.
Last I checked, if you don't send your trade-in by the due date (45 days), you'll still get the additional 20% discount, but will be charged for the instant gift card.
Trade-in doesn't have to be a streaming device:

EDIT: Terms state that the 20% rebate is displayed at checkout but will not be received until submission of the trade-in device. So, the transaction may not be considered as complete by Amazon until trade-in is received or expired.

The only thing making me hesitate is that the Roku Streaming Stick came out in 2021 and they still haven't refreshed it. I'm betting the latest Fire TV Stick has a faster processor (for now).
Not looking to get any box sized models like the regular Roku or Apple TV because I just want a small stick for the bedroom.
In my opinion there are two main differences between Roku and Fire Sticks.
1. Roku's user interface is better than the Fire Stick. It is minimalistic, simple to use, never crashes and just plain works. When using the Fire Stick you are at the mercy of Amazon's Fire OS and they are all about serving ads at every turn. They even killed the ability for users to use custom launchers to hide all the unnecessary garbage on the dashboard.
2. Fire Sticks are superior over Roku if you are doing any side-loading of apps (Kodi, IPTV streaming, installing APK's). Roku is locked down so you only get official apps that come from their service.
Speed-wise the Fire 4k Max would beat the daylights out of the Roku due to the faster CPU and higher internal memory but you would be trading the user experience of the Roku.
I have an old firestick that I haven't used in years, but I am not able to find it. Thinking of going with the trade-in but not sending anything in unless I can find it somewhere.
The other posts mention that they will also remove the 20% discount that they offered.

I have a Fire stick somewhere which I haven't used in many years. If I find it then obviously it's a no brainer to return it. I was just checking if the collective knowledge here knows on what happens if I can't find it before the trade in time period ends.
Anyways, I guess it's best to buy the Walmart device in this case as last people seem to think that it's a better device.
