Could you please elaborate?
I have Firestick 4K version and I have been streaming 4K content with Kodi with no issues.

Don't forget an additional 20% off with trade-in. And an instant Amazon gift card for the trade-in value that you can use towards the purchase.

Got 20% off plus a $5 instant gift card for trading in an older Fire TV Stick 4K for a current gen 4K Max.

Last I checked, if you don't send your trade-in by the due date (45 days), you'll still get the additional 20% discount, but will be charged for the instant gift card.

Trade-in doesn't have to be a streaming device:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/browse....9187220011

EDIT: Terms state that the 20% rebate is displayed at checkout but will not be received until submission of the trade-in device. So, the transaction may not be considered as complete by Amazon until trade-in is received or expired.

I would look at other reasons than the stick if you're having that issue. I've had the 4K and 4K max, and somewhat recently upgrade to the new 4K max. I've streamed 4K content on Kodi effortlessly, even files 80+ GB's. Either you need a debrid service, or your internet isn't capable of streaming 4K, but it's not the stick.

Is there any reason to get a Fire TV Stick vs a Roku Streaming Stick? I mainly use the usual streamers like Disney+, Paramount+, Netflix, etc. I also have Amazon Prime but don't want to see Prime ads blasted every time I turn on the Fire.

The only thing making me hesitate is that the Roku Streaming Stick came out in 2021 and they still haven't refreshed it. I'm betting the latest Fire TV Stick has a faster processor (for now).

Not looking to get any box sized models like the regular Roku or Apple TV because I just want a small stick for the bedroom.

In my opinion there are two main differences between Roku and Fire Sticks.

1. Roku's user interface is better than the Fire Stick. It is minimalistic, simple to use, never crashes and just plain works. When using the Fire Stick you are at the mercy of Amazon's Fire OS and they are all about serving ads at every turn. They even killed the ability for users to use custom launchers to hide all the unnecessary garbage on the dashboard.

2. Fire Sticks are superior over Roku if you are doing any side-loading of apps (Kodi, IPTV streaming, installing APK's). Roku is locked down so you only get official apps that come from their service.

Speed-wise the Fire 4k Max would beat the daylights out of the Roku due to the faster CPU and higher internal memory but you would be trading the user experience of the Roku.

What happens if you do not send the Trade-in?
I have an old firestick that I haven't used in years, but I am not able to find it. Thinking of going with the trade-in but not sending anything in unless I can find it somewhere.
I assume they will claw back the $3 that they credited to my account. There is a deadline to send the trade in, in.

The UI is so laggy on the 4K Max. The device is basically useless.

I don't care about the $3.
The other posts mention that they will also remove the 20% discount that they offered.

I had 4 amazon firestick bricked because of amazon software updates, frozen on Amazon logo. When I contacted them about it, sorry, but we can offer 15% off. Look for something else.

Oh, I see. In that case, how about just following the rule and returning the device as specified, as agreed to? unless you're fiending that hard to steal 20 bucks, yikes

Check out my original post.
I have a Fire stick somewhere which I haven't used in many years. If I find it then obviously it's a no brainer to return it. I was just checking if the collective knowledge here knows on what happens if I can't find it before the trade in time period ends.

Anyways, I guess it's best to buy the Walmart device in this case as last people seem to think that it's a better device.

Walmart device it better if you don't need/want audio passthrough.

Anyone else find the non-4k fire stick unbearably slow? I even turned off video previews. Making me want to go to apple tv here

I have nVidia Shields around my home. I purchased the 4K MAX as my traveler streaming stick and operate lag-free and responsiveness with the simplicity of plugging into any HDMI input at hotels.
