This is a really great deal at $350.

There is nothing else on the market at this price that will provide you with this many features to make a really good espresso.

I've had mine since 2022. I also have a Bambino for the office.

Bambino has no gauge and no PID for temp adjustment

Temp adjustment helps with extraction for medium to light roast coffee. ( Needs higher temp)

Having a gauge you can adjust the over pressure valve to reduce max pump pressure delivering a cleaner espresso. If you do the dimmer switch hack you can also use the gauge to play with variable pressure profiles.

Startup to heat time is a wash as both are relatively fast differing by less than a minute.

The group head on the infuser is heated which reduces cooling effect if you lock your portafilter in place while warming up. This is another variable that leads to more consistent espresso.

Infuser pre infusion is also more adjustable than the Bambino. Bambino is Max 10 seconds, while with the infuser you can go as long as you want in manual mode.

The last reason to get the infuser is it's overall size and weight. It still has a relatively small footprint, but when inserting the portafilter, having the extra size and weight is better. On the Bambino you gotta hold the top of the machine to snug the filter or else you'll lift the entire thing.

If you're thinking about getting into the rabbit hole of espresso coffee, this is a no brainer deal.

The Infuser has more precise temperature control, but weaker steaming power. If you consume more milk-based drinks, then the Bambino/Bambino Plus would be a better fit. However, if you prefer to drink straight espresso and dabble in specialty coffee that may require experimenting with temperature, the Infuser is the better option.

Warning. This is an old model - Breville does not make replacement parts for it any longer. I have had this model for 8 years. The pressure guage on mine is working but leaking water inside the guage. Unfortunately i can no longer get the replacement part for it.
It is so sad to know about this. Thank you for pointing it out!

Too bad my order is arriving tomorrow....

Turin DF54 or SK40 pair amazing with the infuser.

SK40 is conical burr which lends to a more viscous and robust espresso flavor

DF54 is flat burr and provides more clarity in exchange for less body.

Both under $225
Thank you! I do not see SK40 on amazon. DF54's price seems to be very stable and never gave discount...

How does DF54 compare to Baratza Encore ESP?

Is this better of the bambino? I'm confused which one to get
One better thing is the pressure gauge which can make tuning your shot easier. However at $350 isn't the slickest deal for a basic espresso machine

Does anyone know if this is basically the Breville Barista Express without the built-in grinder? I have the Barista Express now; and it's working great for me. I'm looking to get exactly the same machine but without the grinder.
Pretty much, yes.

Thought I wanted a smaller machine to take up less counter space i.e. Bambino Plus but I actually like the idea that this has a bit more heft to go with the built in tamper. Either way I also like having the grinder separate. Looks like a solid deal. Thanks

Does anyone have experience with Breville's warranty? I'm curious how their products stand up- I'm never owned a Breville machine but this is pretty appealing. Not sure if I should pull the trigger or wait to see what people say about the Ninja Luxe Cafe

I have this burr grinder for over 10 years ago. I wonder it's sufficient. Got it almost new condition for $40

Thanks, Slickdeals. Received mine today, and my takeaway is that I spent $350 to find out that I can't make espresso. Wow, wow, wow, am I bad at this. Three attempts, three undrinkable "shots." 100% certain it's me, and (bad) humor aside, I'm really looking forward to learning the art form here, in both the beans, temp, and grind, as well as the frothing. SD strikes again!
Don't give up !! This machine makes amazing espresso and latte's. What kind of grinder are you using?
My tip is to get a forgiving coffee bean - here's a good one from Good Brother's in Michigan - https://goodbrotherscoffee.com/co...0961607793
Order 2 lbs and go to town.
Also search google for discount codes, they always have something for first time buyers

They are identical minus the grinder, the internal parts I believe are exchangeable.

The infuser shares many parts with the Breville Barista Express and with its popularity. I'm certain parts for the express are available.

Anybody know if this is the newer 9-bar version or the older 15bar version? Manufacture date says 2018 which makes me believe it's the older 15 bar
You can open the back of the machine and turn the over pressure valve down. I bought mine from Amazon in 2022 and however it was set from the factory I was likely getting over 13 bar. The gauge was getting buried. I now have it set to get about halfway at max.

DF54 is a newer grinder on the market. For its price you won't find a better espresso grinder on the market.
Grinding for espresso is different than for pour over or drip coffee.
To make good espresso, you should get a dedicated espresso grinder that has " infinite " adjustment vs a step adjustment (Baratza)
Sometimes when you're trying to dial in an espresso bean you need just a slight adjustment and often step adjustments are too much or too little.
Espresso is a bit finicky like that, pour over and drip coffee is much more forgiving.

IF you can find this burr coffee grinder at a good price, and are able to carefully modify it, you can get great grinds.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mr-Coffee-Automatic-Silver-Burr-Mill-Grinder-with-18-Custom-Grinds/172193... [walmart.com]

Here are some great reviews:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/mr-c...Id=2628378

These used to be sold for less than $30 before the great inflation.
Now, around $50+/-.

The same with the Breville BES840XL. The current Amaazon Prime only price of $350 used to be the everyday price before the great inflation!

This is the hack posted online that should be used very-very-very carefully only by those who are very careful and very capable in using it SAFELY after the modification:

"Unplug the coffee mill. By un-threading the bean hopper and setting it aside you can feel two tabs if you run finger over the top of mill. Remove the inner tab with a sharp knife so that the stop for the finer setting is eliminated. Remove the three metal screws and pull black plastic ring out set aside. There is a prong sticking up with a spring, pull it out ,remove spring and reinstall prong by pushing flush with surface. Reinstall ring and screws. Now move the setting past the old espresso (finest) setting to get the finer grind you require I use the white pointer facing straight back to get the grind I like. By removing spring and pushing the prong back in you are eliminating a safety interlock which prevents the machine from running with the hopper removed which I doubt anyone would want to do. Be aware. Finally plug in unit and try it now grinds fine/ espresso beautifully.

When you cut the inner tab do it very slowly as to not scratch the surface of the grinder.
There are only 2 fixed tabs, an inner one and an outer one. Only the inner tab should be cut.
Also, after you cut the inner tab do not turn the bean hopper indicator more than 4-5 clicks past the fine setting, 2-3 clicks should be more than enough for a very fine grind. The machine will not grind if you turn it too much past the fine setting.
Also, since the spring auto stop is removed the machine should NEVER be plugged in with the bean hopper removed or you may accidentally grind your fingers.
Read the Amazon hack post very carefully and keep children and anyone who may not know about the hack away from this modified coffee grinder machine.
"

IF there are children in the house this mod shouldn't be done, as kids can be very unpredictable.
Same with some adults!
