This is not a "today only" deal. It's one of the current BOGOs that have been going since July. As noted above it did drop to $102 ($189 including gift battery) about two months ago in a daily deal.

Also, it is currently on clearance in NYC and possible some other areas for $175.25 including gift battery (hacks down to $107).

I purchased a m12 saw deal and tried returning just the batteries at HD and they said I had to return the whole kit with the saw. What's the return policy?

If the batteries and saw are separate line items with separate prices on your receipt, then you can return 1 of them and keep the discount on the other.

Try again a different employee will not care.
Next time order them for pick up at two different store locations.
Pick up the item you want.
After a few weeks they will automatically refund for the item you never picked up.
