That's a joke right?

When you wash your hands do you grab the towel and wipe the faucet off? Maybe leave the water running until your hands are dry all while wasting water? A normal person turns the water off with wet hands after washing them, drys their hands and leaves the room.

This water goes somewhere that transfers from your wet hands. In the case of the Delta Sandover faucet we had it tapers all the way down to the plastic plate that goes between the sink and the faucet. Some water obviously collects at this point between the faucet and the cheesy plastic plate they include or finish at the base of the faucet wouldn't have started to turn to crap.

Something else I should have mentioned in my OP was the quality difference in weight of a Moen or Pfister (both honor their finish warranty without issue) since I came from a Moen to the junky Delta the weight was completely different so actual metal build quality is lacking in Delta faucets. Sure they look nice and all but that's about where it stops.

If you have ever replaced a cheapo basic faucet from a new house or from a mobile home you will get what I mean in weight difference and just overall feel of the faucet in general. The craftsmanship just wasn't there. It's like a $25-$30 Walmart special faucet.

Throw a Delta faucet at someones head you're just pissing them off. Throw a Moen or Pfister and they will be out cold. Can't speak for any other brands because all I've ever used are Moen, Pfister and this one Delta. After they wouldn't honor the finish warranty and with how light the construction of the faucet itself was I'll never buy another again.

As to the other comments about the drain cover below. The drain ring and the cover for the stopper finish are fine, go figure. So my guess is the finish on the faucet was flawed to begin with or it's applied differently or thinner. The drain ring itself actually usually has water sitting on the back edge with how the plumbing lines up in this 1953 house. So if the drain ring finish is fine there should be no reason the faucet has finish issues with it tapering to the top of the sink the entire faucet. As any water left on the handles after turning off the faucet should slide down and off the faucet onto the sink itself (which it should no longer be touching the faucet base with the plastic mounting plate they include) then off the porcelain sink into the drain. Which let me remind you the drain ring has water sitting on it at the back all the time and it's left to evaporate without affecting the finish any.

So Delta's claims of leaving the faucet in standing water so it voided the finish warranty.........

Naturally they ask if any harsh cleaners were used. The vanity/sink combo we have in the bathroom calls for only soap and water for cleaning the porcelain so that's all I've ever used to clean the faucet also. Just normal Softsoap hand soap and warm water on a sponge. Both of which should have no effect on the finish of a faucet.

Want to roll the dice and spend nearly the same amount on an inferior product that just feels cheaply made and may develop finish issues that will probably be denied have at it.

I'm just putting my experience out there with the build feel and finish warranty denial.

My 2 cents shop elsewhere and maybe spend the extra on a better built and "backed" brand.

If you value a finish warranty stay away from Delta. They won't honor it and claim it's damaged from standing water. When water can't stand to effect the outer clear coating. They basically expect you to become OCD and wipe any water off their finish each time the faucet is used.

Just to be clear though, you intentionally let water stand on your finish and then you tried to claim a finish warranty after you intentionally damaged it? Just want to get the story straight here.
I think he means the sink drain cover piece

How is that Delta's fault exactly? You voided the warranty!

Well you see, your honor, I was actually exempt from obeying traffic laws because I was running late and I would have missed the opening theme song to House of the Dragon.

I dunno - I didn't buy a Delta faucet, knowingly void the warranty and then throw a tantrum online when they rejected my claim lmao
A simple yes would have sufficed

I doubt brushed stainless even has a finish protector on it. This discussion doesn't even apply.

Oh, yes - I purchased a delta faucet and knowingly voided the warranty, then threw a tantrum about it online, hehe.

Amen! The purchase of a Delta product is best kept between the fool and Home Depot.
