If this deal looks good just wait a couple months
Is it worth upgrading to from a 1080? I'm fine right now, the reason I even thought about upgrading was for GTA 6 so there's no rush for me at the moment.

Should we try AMD? I worry because I have a buddy who was constantly messing with his AMD in regards to whine and vibration, so he said
Me and my son ONLY car about 1440 gaming and tbh we rarely play new games, most games we play are 2020 and before, and much are way before that going back 8-10 years
Only new (er) game we want to try is Elden Ring
I also have to say that AMD's software is phenomenal. It truly makes Nvidia's feel feature-limited and quite old. We haven't had any issues with drivers on any of our systems -and I will also say that my son's 6750xt system doesn't have any issues running the games we play together at high-refresh 1080p, and the 7700XT is a tier above his card. So long as you're familiar with the correct process for updating to a new GPU I reckon you'd be totally fine switching to team Red if you so chose.
I love Nvidia but their prices are out of this world these days (and I'm a sucker who paid way too much for the best card on the market from them).
