I have 3 pairs of BalanceFrom dumbbells and the chemical rubber smell is the least of your worries. The first thing you must do when you receive them is to wipe them down with wet paper towels to get oil off the surface. If you don't, your clothes will be ruined from dirty oil. Other than that, they're great.

Decent deal if you don't need the stand. Prior FP deals said the rubber has an off gassing issue. Like it smells chemically. Just be forewarned.

Got the 150lb set a month ago and only the 15s were oily the rest were bone dry with no oily residue. So ymmv with getting the oily rubber.

The rubber smell and greasy texture are YMMV. They don't always occur. I've ordered dumbbells which were reputed to have these bad qualities and they did not. So YMMV.

As a large guy, it took me years to put my ego away and get most of my workouts in with these top rack weights. I am in better shape, bigger, and have less injuries than ever before
