Thanks OP! I just added a google voice number to my google account and ported that in. Takes no time at all. You'll need to go to GV settings and pay $3.00 to unlock the number. You'll also need to enable the "Call to Listen" setting under Voicemail which will let you set a PIN which Metro will ask for. You'll also need the google account number which is just the phone number.

My order did not go through after the "Place your order" button, and it is not in the cart anymore. Metro is not allowing me to use that number anymore. Numberbarn is saying that the number is porting out. Has anyone faced this issue?

Wondering the same.
Don't think it will let you complete the order without acquiring a "port confirmed". And it transfers the number once you activate the phone post delivery

Seems they want you to sign up with their more expensive plans, not just the $25/30 one.

You have to wait for at least one hour , then your number will be available again for port

I created a Google Voice number over the weekend with the intent that I'd pay to port it out if this deal, which I had read was projected for next week, eventually became available. I had to pay $3 to Google to get it ready to port.

Would I have preferred to pay $0? Sure. But I also do plan to use this line.

I found a link to Google's PIN page. I couldn't figure out where in the voicemail settings to set a PIN. Just mentioning this in case it helps anyone else.

Normally its turned off by default. But to explicitly turn it off, you can login to your account via the Metro app or web (after you receive the phone) and navigate to your account to turn it off.

Does it require 12 months of use or can you just activate it for the one month, put it in the sock drawer and then it'll automatically unlock in 12 months?
Wondering the same...assuming we only need the plan for the first month that is paid with this order?
