Thanks OP! I just added a google voice number to my google account and ported that in. Takes no time at all. You'll need to go to GV settings and pay $3.00 to unlock the number. You'll also need to enable the "Call to Listen" setting under Voicemail which will let you set a PIN which Metro will ask for. You'll also need the google account number which is just the phone number.

the cheapest one I found so far is mobileX (https://mymobilex.com/) which is also using verizon network. They have a by-gig plan that cost about $2/month. I just open one line, but the only issue is that the port out pin needs to be requested by ticket, and it has been hours and I haven't received it yet.​ For time sensitive deals like this, I don't want to wait and risk it.
So I eventually get a visible number. Their pin quest is automatic and only took 1 minute.

i called to have them to this manually. i said i was porting in a LAN line (i never told them it was GV) and we went through the process, and he said sorry, your telephone company is a tmobile affiliate. i told him its impossible, and he said their system said it was and sorry Smilie

i tried this earlier, it said my moto 5g(cheesy) backup phone was eSIM compatible, but they instead sent me in the mail a SIM.....grumble. nowhere it seems i can now change that. i know this thread isnt visible support, Smilie, but any tricks you can share for someone clearly incapable yummy

Make sure your phone has imei1 & imei2.
Use imei2 for esim.

Google number didn't work. I got a friend of mine to give me a referral code for visible and did that instantly amd order went through. Still waiting for email confirmation from metro but took screenshot and everything. It was for a second line added to my account.
