Did you provide an eligible phone number for port in?

Has to be a VZ or ATT number -- can't be TMo or VoIP (GV/NB)

Install the visible app on your phone, sign up with esim using a referral code for instant activation, choose the basic plan $25, referral code will give you $20 discount, go into the visible app, your account information should be there

How soon do I have to activate the service?

I got the phone and want to wait until my current Visible service close to expiration.

Do you have to open the phone box to get unlocked 1 year later? Or just activation from website is sufficient?

I haven't seen a definitive answer for the Metro ones and we won't know for certain until we see some reports from people who actually tried. I remember there were a lot of assumptions that sealed phones wouldn't unlock in the Tracfone / StraightTalk threads until a few people tried it and found that physical activation wasn't needed for those carriers. It could be the same way for Metro, but it doesn't seem like people have tested it here yet. I have a sealed one from this deal waiting and I think a couple of others might be trying also, but it's going to be eleven more months to find out on those. Smilie

Online activation is for metro account. You need to activate the phone by opening the box. Check metro unlock policy

Don't think many will take that gamble only to find out they can't unlock after a year. Better to open it and be safe than sorry.

Speaking of Visible, does anyone hot spot off with this carrier in place of Comcast or Att internet for a hour a day? I have a elderly customer who cannot get Comcast/Infinity but Att is available for $60. a month. She's on a tight budget and using her cell phone. I suggested a Chromebook or 10"+ tablet. She has gotten no reply from Lifeline program after numerous attempts. Is there a hotspot device that would work with a Visible sim or cell phone only? She uses a Jitterbug flip phone and it's pathetic for going online. Thinking a unlocked Moto Play or similar with hotspot?

Yeah, it seems like nobody has been curious enough to try yet. Personally, I'm thinking that it will likely still unlock so I'll give it a shot. It's not a huge deal if not, as I like to have a phone around for testing purposes that only needs Wi-Fi anyway.

I just learned that there is the following option on sickw.com:
FREE - APPLE ACTIVATION STATUS - IMEI/SN

Have you tried that? I'm not at home right now but I will see what it says for my sealed 12 as soon as I get home.
