Not sure about waiting a year to have it unlocked to be able to use it with my service. I'm with T-Mobile - is it confirmed that you can no longer use the Metro locked phones on T-Mobile service by popping in my T-Mobile sim?

I tried with my TMo SIM last month and it didn't work. And most all of the replies I've seen about it seem to say it doesn't work (although I've seen a one-off reply saying it worked, but I'd tend to chalk it up as someone who may have gotten it confused, considering all the other replies saying it doesn't work). There have also been some reports of people using it with an MKSD piggyback chip.

You can't upgrade directly through your kids current account with Metro, but you can upgrade by creating another account and order this iPhone through that account.

They seem to have stopped that as of last month. The discount disappears when trying to port a GV number now. I had intended to use GV, but ended up using Visible to get the deal.

Did anyone use Talkatone non-VOIP phone number to port out? It cost $0.99 to request a new phone number from Talkatone.

Thanks OP.Got 2 iphones. Added 2nd line after first. Got Visible $5 plans through referral code for port in.
Got MKSD 5.6 to use T-Mobile MVNO (Infimobile) sim cards to work. Make sure to not upgrade ios 18, mksd 5.6 doesnt work with ios 18.
If you upgraded to ios18, you can downgrade through iTunes (google it), but first restore to ios18.2 beta, then to ios17.6 beta. SIM card with mksd 5.6 works then. It wont work on ios 18. Restoring to ios17.x (non-beta) also doesnt work.
Also Verizon sims and Verizon MVNO sims dont work with mksd 5.6.

You can enter the phone number in the very first step and metro will tell you if it is eligible

I am using MKSD 5.6 on T-Mobile with iOS 18.1 just fine. Initially, the phone came with iOS 17 (probably 17.6; I don't remember exactly).

Thats good to know. There must be variations of MKSD then.
It wont work for me, unless I downgraded. Works fine on 17.7.1 latest non-beta. But anything 18.x, just doesnt work for me.

I haven't played with it yet. Are there a couple of menu options that pop up when you insert the MKSD that can sometimes vary depending on the what carrier the phone is locked to or the new target carrier? Could you let us know exactly what you clicked when those options pop up for this Metro phone when attempting to use a TMo SIM?

My FaceTime isn't working using MKSD 5.6 with T-Mobile. Anyone else having this issue?
