If you don't have a PS5 yet and don't care about the PS5 PRO hold your horses! Sony and other retailers usually bundle the PS5 console along with a free game included for the same price $449 during BF Holiday.

349 or less. That is with a game. I am not paying the same price after 4 years, not a huge new game library, and Walmarts piled high with inventory.

Four years in and we are still only getting remastered games. PSN Plus is now $79.99 a year, Sony also increased the prices of their controllers from $74.99 to $79.99. The worse generation of gaming ever.

You may be right. Kill two birds with one stone and increase sales for the slim. They did release the PS5 in white knowing most people hate that color because it clashes with other electronics. So you will be forced to buy the other console covers in a different color. Pretty crafty on their part.

Pretty sure it's more than 10% faster. Official specs say 45%, but take that with a grain of salt. Doubt many would pay that price delta for 10%. Agree that the uptake on the pro will be a lot lower than the regular.

Age of kids? Do they have a gaming system already?

If they have no gaming system, then get a PS5 (or XBox + Gamepass). Switch if they're younger.
Bigger library of games to fit all needs, easy for two player or online gaming.

If you already have a Switch/Xbox/PS4- personally I am going for a Quest 3 for a new gaming experience.

It's still a great gen it's just freaking ridiculously overpriced
