Does anyone have experience with metrobytmobile unlocking w/o opening the box? I know it will take an year and they automatically activate after 3 weeks from the purchase date but is it possible to unlock?
From my experience I would always have to at least turn the phone on and make a call along with leaving the metro SIM in the phone for the full time to ensure it gets unlocked.
You might be able to leave it sealed in a box, but it would be a complete toss up if it passes their unlocking process after a year.
I ended up getting the Moto Edge 2024 from Metro. I just got it and it works perfectly with my T-Mobile SIM. Thank you to everyone that reported that Samsung and Motorola phones do work on T-Mobile.
did you put the tmobile sim in before powering it up? or run through the first load with esim on metro, activate, then pop the tmobile sim in? or does it matter?

I have the Moto Razr 2024 from Total. The low light photos are really garbage for a phone that retails for $700. Reviews confirm the poor low light performance.

I don't know if it matters but I did not activate the metro esim.
I installed the T-Mobile SIM and powered it on. You can also just power it on without a SIM but not activate the esim (it asks you if you want to activate it).
Two things I'm not sure of
- what would have happened if I would have activated the esim (or even if I activate it now)
- if the phone will unlock after a year since I didn't activate the metro SIM.

was wondering the same thing. Should you activate? and if you do what happens.
Guess I'll do the same.
Do you know if they put you on autopay when you place an order? I don't seem to see a way to check the account.
Honestly I didn't pay too much attention to that part because I paid with a virtual card number that I limited to $75 and closed it as soon as I got my phone.

nice! dam I should have done the same.
Would they flag the phone if there is not plan attached to it?

I did the A54 deal last year and there was no flag for only keeping a month. had to make sure to activate and make a call/text, then let it sit for 6 months with sim card in it (may not make a difference). powered it on 6 months + 1 day or two later and it unlocked.

Thanks for letting me know. So you do have to active it.
