What is the cheapest TMobile plan compatible with this phone? Buying one for my dad but he hardly ever leaves the house and has almost no use for mobile data. Connect has the 15/mo plan. Is that the cheapest?

Your best bet is prob get the Total one for the 60 day unlock then go with Tello. Only $8/mo for unlimited voice and text. Easy to adjust plan temporarily too. For example maybe a trip comes up and would like to have some data, can always bump the plan up for a month and right back down the next pretty easily, that sort of thing.

I created a Metro account and bought the S24 FE without porting-in (paid extra $50 for a new number). I'm already a T-Mobile postpaid customer and just wanted a cheap new phone. I received the S24 FE, popped in my T-Mobile SIM and everything worked perfect. I never activated the phone with Metro, do I even need to do that? I'm afraid that activating it might somehow lock me out from using my T-Mobile SIM.

Without activating, I can't seem to login into my new Metro account to cancel service (I don't recall the new number they assigned me). I thought they would send a physical SIM along with the phone. I checked the phone and my emails for an eSIM QR code, but no luck. I don't want them to charge me next month for phone service that I'm not using.

Thanks! Looking for a new phone for my Dad and this one could work. But will wait a few more days just in case a Samsung Flip deal pops up.

You do not have to cancel for prepaid - they just cut off your service if you do not pay.

Regarding activation, one thing to bear in mind is that their unlock policy says that " Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date" if you want to unlock it.

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

Presumably that normally refers to activation on Metro. So, in a year's time, will it unlock if you never activated it on Metro, but only on T-Mobile?

It is anybody's guess. Strictly speaking, they would not have to. You might try unlock in the menus and see if it acknowledges it was activated and says when it will unlock.

I would not guess that activating now on Metro would cause a problem with continuing to use it on T-Mobile but anything is possible.

So it says I have to bring my number and verify my identity. Are they trying to verify that my name is attached to the account of the number I'm porting over? Has anyone tried to use one of those port numbers you get from eBay? I heard they now ask for account number, pin, and zip code

The s24fe back down to $99 + service.
Any suggestion on 128Gb Galaxy phone? It seems that Galaxy phones consume storage quickly without user intervention.

thx!

$99 if you xfer phone #, $199 if you want a new #.
I'm not giving up my phone # on google voice. I'm also not going to be using their service past the 1 month of service.
I plan on sticking in a t-mobile hotspot sim (with free international data) in month 2. (That still works, right?)

How do i register a phone # for cheap and use that to xfer?

I have a question about porting the number. They no longer accept Google Voice number so how to get a number for a cheap price to port in? I know no need to port for this deal.

It took a year, but my Razr got unlocked. All I had to do was go through the menus Settings -> About Phone -> Device Details -> Network Lock and there was a new option to "Try to unlock". Clicked on that and a minute later it said it was unlocked and needed a reboot. Now it says it's unlocked
