I don't own this yet, but I have foolishly bought several cheap ones off Amazon and AliExpress. They last about 3 uses before all the pins and pegs that center the chain are bent to crap.

I have high hopes that this one will last a while.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think the SRAM T-Type/Flat top chains are for the new Transmission groups....I have a 2-year-old GX groupset and I think this thing will work on that chain.

This tool is ubiquitous in any bike shop in America, and you can almost never find it on sale, let alone at close to half off. Just note, that it will work with some 12 speed chains (such as Shimano, I believe), but won't work with a couple SRAM 12 speed chains. Any other chain, 11 speed is de nada (just note if you're one of the handful of people the runs Campagnolo gear, then this will not peen a Campy chain as is required). Oh, and one last pro tip -- grease your threads for best performance and tool longevity!

Yep, it'll work for you. Just a reminder -- the OP mentions that it will work on any bicycle chain for bikes with 11 speed down to 5 speed rear cassettes. It'll even work on most 12 speed chains, but the only caveats are that it won't work on some SRAM 12 speed chains and can't peen Campagnolo chains. Also, as an FYI, I've owned own of these for years and have used it on 11 speed road bike chains and 7/8 speed chains, as well. This thing is the industry standard chain tool.

Thank you GimmeYoTots! I'll place an order now then. I haven't replace my chain yet but need to soon. Where's the best and cheapest place to order replacement chains? I'm thinking of waxing my new replacement chain. Any advice and tips? Thanks!

I'll probably be burned at the stake, but Amazon has a number of chains for cheap.

As for waxing, I used a slow cooker in the past to melt the wax and just dip the chain in. Note that most new chains come pre-lubricated, so you'll want to douse in gasoline or isopropyl alcohol just to get that stuff of, then let it dry before dipping in the wax. You want the wax to get in the crevices, so leave it in the slow cooker for a bit.

More than likely yes, but the OP showed the caveats. I doubt Walmart/Target is carrying 12-speed chains....

I never felt any need for these also. I just use tap and chisels, works great every time.

No need for this dance, just use penetrating oil.

This is a shop quality tool, so it should last a very long time for personal use. The pin is a replaceable component if damaged or wears out.
