These are the best washlets (the toto drake is the best toilet also). I believe this model number is being retired and replaced with the new toto s7 line.

One word to the wise: Buy the extended warranty especially if you plan on using the auto open close feature. The motor is pretty weak and will burn out under a lot of usage. These are not repairable so if something goes wrong, it is into the trash.

Edit: The s550e has the open/close not the s500.

so...I'm guessing that this thing doesn't really retail for $1,832...

I think the s500 doesn't have auto open/close. Still a great bidet!

What is the weight limit on these Toto bidets? I can't find anything in the literature. Thanks.
It can do 250 lbs fine, though above that idk

If the auto-open wears out, the lid/seat can still be lifted manually. So it isn't necessary to trash it if working otherwise.

I have the exact same model and it is flawless with unlimited warm water. No auto open. Easy to add auto flush for 70 bucks if you have a toto toilet.

You are correct. Sorry I own the s550e. The TOTO S500e washlet is different from the S550e washlet in that it lacks the automatic opening/closing lid and LED nightlight features. Auto open and close is a neat feature but will be the first thing to break on it in a busy bathroom. If i bought again I would get the s500 model.
I have the s550e for 2 years so far with no issues with the auto close feature. If I had to do it again I would still get the s550e

Yeah the main differences are the S7 new lineup has less space between toilet bowl and toilet seat (less pee stains on the front of the "lip"), the ewater pre-mist thing sprays the bidet plastic part as well (so less doodoo stains from taco bell), 4 user settings instead of 2 on new remote, better designed remote (better backlight keys). I feel like $689 for this S500 (not even the S550) isn't that great given the going rate for open box S7's. Though that takes a while to find... This article compares the S7a to the S550e. This deal is for the S500e https://premierbidets.com/blogs/n...difference
You trust an "open box" bidet seat?

Good question, these are more popular in the Japanese market so they're probably tested by very slim people.
Or they go for quality and test with Sumo Wrestlers

Not sure how much is extended warranty but toto fixes most issues out of warranty for a flat rate of 175 including shipping.

I got the Bio Bidet 6800 version from Costco from a slick deal in 2023. I can't think of anything else I would need in a bidet. Why is this 3X more expensive than the Bio Bidet one which already has heated seat, heated water, fans, warm air dryer, remote, lights, etc.

What exactly is the issue? You think they will pee on the seat or something? It's not like underwear

This thing is amazing. Bought one over 5 years ago and still going strong!
Same here, bought one right before the pandemic, now when I go to a location without a bidet I leave just angry at the world.
