I like those cases better, i got a R11 back in 2020 , still running strong, the only thing i hate is that the chassis (huge tho) only accepts smaller GPUs, end up getting a 4070 this year, way better than the 2070 super that came with it, but the liquid cooling its great on them.

Yeah But you will be stuck forever on a case with a custom made motherboard and psu you cant upgrade. 4070 ti card you get is custom made by dell with bios locked (no overclock) and a system that barely have airflow unless you set it to turbo jet mode.
It's time for a new computer by the time this is outdated anyway.

When this is outdated this will have to go in the garbage. While you can salvage the case fan cpu cooler/aio, psu and other stuff for the next build if you do built yourself instead of buying this crap.

Is this chip affected by the degradation issue? I googled it and some are saying it doesn't have the issue but other forums saying it does.

I am waiting until Sunday or Monday to see if the cashback site will increase.
There were few posts about 10% CB denied by Dell with a previous same specs that has 32GB RAM at 1487. I was one of the lucky that did get CB.

Yes, from Intel official statement. All issues (should be) resolved with latest microcode firmware. I have two R16 with this CPU and working well.

I ordered the R16 4090 deal a while back, which felt amazing at the time — but I figure I'd post my experience.
The first computer I received would freeze for 20-30 seconds (I think there was some sort of network card error as Ethernet usage would spike alongside that). I was hesitant to do a full refund since it was such an incredible deal, so I did an exchange.
The second computer had a different issue — the computer would randomly shutoff. At that point I could have gotten another replacement or refund since I was barely within the return window of 30 days after ship. (This would have been the last opportunity to have both of these options available ) I chose to just refund given the issues I had — I'm glad I did. I will acknowledge that at least one of these computers could have been more of an Intel issue than a Dell one, which could be resolved by now. I wound up building my own for a much greater cost, but I haven't run into any of the issues with the comp I built.

My current rig is an Alienware Aurora R11 with 2080 super/ 10700k I got right before the 3000 series was released… I think I paid $1800 for it back then. This is tempting, as my current machine has been flawless. No complaints, upgraded the ram 2
To 64GB and slapped a 2TB NvME and an 18TB spinner in it.

My current dilemma: do I just jump on this now or wait and see what 5080 pricing is gonna be? I've gotten some really nice 4K OLED displays since I bought my last desktop. From what I've read, the 5080 could outperform the 4090

Also, will the PSU in this thing handle a 5080 if I ever decided to upgrade it?

Personally, I'd just keep it and use it as a file server when it gets too old to be useful for anything else, which is likely 10-15 years from now anyway

This was something I fought with. Our old Dell Alienware desktop used proprietary everything. I was able to upgrade the video card, but that's about it. I transfered the guts into a new case and just rigged whatever I needed to hold the parts. 2 years later, it was time for an upgrade again. The video card I upgraded moved into the new build, but everything else emptied from the case and into the trash. Whole new PC build.

Curious -- in your world, how long before this becomes "outdated" and why?

"Outdated" doesn't mean obsolete. It'll always play games or at the very least run productivity stuff for someone looking for a bargain price on the used market.

As is usual for Alienware deals, all the people who can't stop fiddling and upgrading come out talking trash about a prebuilt. Then don't buy one. It's not for you. This has a 1000W P/S which can handle a 4090. You can put in more RAM, a bigger or more SSD's, a newer WIFI card, a better GPU and a better CPU if this one isn't good enough yet people say you can't upgrade it. I say you can upgrade the things most people upgrade over the life of the PC.
