Only 90-day warranty, so you might want to factor in the optional insurance that they offer.

Especially with the i9-13900KF CPU. Lots of 13- and 14-gen Intel CPUs up for sale nowadays—(individual or bundled) + (used or refurbished). So, be cautious.

Would not touch this deal with a 10 foot pole. The 13900KF is one of the CPUs affected by the recent Intel issues. If this was brand new it might be safe to just download the new micro code fix and pray for the best but this is a refurb so chances are this has already incurred problems and Lenovo installed the micro code fix and is trying to minimize their losses.

Totally agree with this. Woot is also really bad about warranty as well. I never buy anything expensive through them after having trying to get them to honor their 90 day warranty with some security cameras. I had to sick the BBB on this to get them to respond.

Quote from FantasticStag377 :
About to buy, is the microcode that bad?

After reading, seems all is well.

Game on!
But there's no easy way to tell if these CPUs (in the refurbished units) had already been physically damaged before the microcode update.

This issue caused physical, irreversible, and irreparable damage to the affected chips. And, in many cases, it is very difficult to spot the damage as of yet, although it will rear its head sooner or later.

Some testing shows these damaged CPUs passing stress tests but causing games to crash. In other cases, they'll pass everything except the stress tests. In yet other cases, they'll pass the stress test and gaming but not productivity workloads. Sometimes, they only crash in one video game or productivity application, with everything else being OK. But the fault evolves over time as degradation continues.

So, make of this what you will. No judgment for anyone deeming this a worthy deal in spite of the backstory.

How do I know if I'm good on this chip? Just built with it. Got all updated mobo and drivers installed...

I would definitely stay away from 13/14th Gen as well. I'm keeping my 12th gen, and recommending AMD to everybody else at the moment. Couple the instability issues with the fact it is also refurbished, I would stay FAR, FAR away....
