Had hopes for the i7 version with separate keypad. No luck so I picked this one. Showed stock but no pickup, delivery or shipping. Had to go to store to get it.
to those that have this...is it unbearably slow for basic browsing , u tube etc?
or manageable
will be used by high school senior and on into college
again, for just basic browsing
I posted the following on the earlier deal regarding performance
Yes. I was running onenote with a digitizer pen, deriving some math on the screen, while running zoom with full screen share and recording to the cloud. It was working fine. I also had my webcam on but it's only a small talking head size.
Also web browsing and light programming for 2 hours drained 16% battery life so 10hr is achievable.
Thanks, OP was able to pick one up. Target has some great deals on laptops, If you can find them. Just an FYI, they have a Lenovo, i7, 12 gigs of RAM and 512 solid state hard drive. The tag said 149 99. They didn't have it when I picked this up, otherwise, I would have got the Lenovo. Anybody have any comments on installing regular Windows 11 on this? I'm not familiar with the S version? Thanks, in advance..
If you attempt to install a program that is not in Microsoft store, like Adobe reader, you will be prompted to get out of S mode.

Can you tell me what are the ramifications of getting out of S mode? This can handle Windows 11 easily, right?
I've not used S mode except for the brief time with this laptop before switching to regular mode. I've heard of faster speed and more secure are the two things most often mentioned with S mode. You're only running windows store apps though.

I am using HP Active Pen G3. It's expensive, almost $100. It comes with my work laptop and works on the acer and a lenovo 2-in-1 I have. This pen has Bluetooth feature and is rechargeable on USB-C. But you can't customize the push buttons on a non-HP laptop because the HP app that customizes the pen wil not run on non-HP machines, what a shame! On the HP laptop, I customized the end button to toggle touch screen on and off so I can focus on writing with touch turned off and just click the button to turn it back on to scroll.
I did some research online and was under the impression that any AES 1.0 compatible pen should work since the laptop is said to have AES 1.0 digitizer screen. Acer sells its own pen for $60. They only sell one pen so you can't make a mistake.
