I've been using a Magic Eraser on the inside to get rid of the film and it works really well. Just apply light pressure on the glass with a slightly damp magic eraser.

The key to not having your windshield fog up is to remove the film build up on it that is causing the fogging (as described in posts above).

A really cheap way to do that is just clean the inside of the glass with a microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol. That will strip off the layer of film, and also don't have to worry about scratching with a Magic Eraser.

My windshield used to fog up really bad, even after cleaning with Windex and stuff like that. Until someone told me about cleaning it with a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Works fantastic and is really cheap, and most people already have a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the home.

The plastic and vinyl in your car actually off gasses and forms a thin film on the inside of your windshield. This is why it can appear slightly hazy even if you never get it dirty.

So you wash it off with water or anything after? Even when I use this on walls, you can see a film so have no idea how glass would not show it.

Too bad, I don't see the additive going on sale. I usually add water during summer and add half bottle of this additive to test of the water as we have only one or two freeze warning for the whole season and I garage my cars anyway.

Yes and no. It's abrasives are made of relatively soft plastic. It's only abrasive to materials that are softer than those plastics. It absolutely cannot 'wet sand' glass anymore than a plastic ice scraper can scratch it.

To those wondering about a magic eraser on glass, glass is way harder than the eraser's abrasives. Add in some moisture and you won't have any scratches. If want to do things the right way, order a proper glass prep product like Stoner's invisible glass stripper. It uses a glass compound/polish (abrasive) to remove contaminants. After you clean those up, you can apply rain x or a sealant to the glass. It will last way longer with fully clean windshield than simply applying after a class cleaner. Bonus if you use an iso wipe before applying rainX.

I just applied a similar product (Glaco) to my cars (live in Seattle) and expect it'll last through the end of winter, if not much longer.
