I have this exact controler, I'll try to tell you a bit about it.
First off, It's impressive, the build quality is excellent. . It feels great and outside of the actual console controller this is probably the best alternative on the market.
The controller rumble works quite well.
You can virtually swap the XY BA buttons around in the software. There's a different version with the XBOX button mappings.
The software remapping gets stupid on occasion, but re-running the software configuration utility and exiting out fixes that. Takes maybe 20 seconds to perform.
I'm skeptical that anyone purchased this specific controller for a significantly lower price, this is the bluetooth/2.4Ghz version, which can also natively connect to the Nintendo switch. There's another version that does not have bluetooth and THAT version can be found cheaper if you look around. I'm not talking about refubished or used, I'm only speaking to "new in box".
I 've used my directly to a nintendo switch, but mainly use it on the PC for steam games, including MineCraft Dungeons.
Always glad to see callouts in case a deal is horrible but are you sure its the same one as this? CamelCamelCamel says that lowest has been $49 this year. This is the wireless version with hall effect sticks.

Either that or they may have gotten a used and/or open-box one from some dubious third-party seller.

Pardon my ignorance... what are Hall Sensor Joysticks? I see it mentioned in some of these 8bitdo threads. I'd primarily be buying this for Windows Games and some Switch playing for the kids.
TIA
I have a couple 8bitdo controllers and really like them

I'll vouch for this. I own this controller as well. Very good build quality. There's another version that is Microsoft certified and has the XBox associated mappings. I use this for Switch as well. There's a convenient switch on the back for 2.4Ghz versus Bluetooth.

In gist, hall sensor typically means less likely control stick drift over time. Analog sticks are designed differently and are prone to drift.

"Hall effect" sticks are joysticks that are virtually immune to 'drift' -- the tendency for joysticks to permanently pull to one direction or another after some time of use. Hall effect sticks utilize magnets to read changes in input rather than using potentiometers, which are susceptible to wear from friction and ultimately 'drift'

I think the confusion is this deal is for the "Ultimate Bluetooth". They do make this same controller, minus Bluetooth, called the "Ultimate"
The non Bluetooth version retails for $50 and has dropped lower than that.

It's an upgrade worth having and it eliminates joystick drift.

Is there a version of this controller where "B" = X ? I know it can be mapped different
you can buy buttons from 8bitdo and crack open the controller and swap out the buttons if you want. Or there are other models with hall effect sticks with xbox layout, like Ultimate 2.4g or the 2C, both are cheaper but lack pc Bluetooth support, and 2C has no charging dock either (swaps back buttons for 2 more shoulder buttons).
