Any input on this deal? My wife currently has a Apple Watch Series 5 maybe and it can barely make it a day w/o close to dead battery. I want to upgrade her to this or maybe a Series 9/10.

If the watch is still working, you can take it to the Apple Store (or just make the request online) and pay $99 for a "battery replacement." I put "battery replacement" in quotes because they just send a new watch. They never actually replace the battery.

It's definitely still working well. I guess my point is, if I can sell my Series 5 for let's say $80, is it a huge upgrade (in speed and features) to upgrade to a more current one (Series 9 or 10) for example?

If you're willing to switch, I'd recommend Garmin. Their watches lasts about 2 weeks between charges

It's for my wife, so she's pretty set on sticking w/ Apple.

I ended up getting the refurb Series 8 (GPS + Cellular) for $227 shipped from Woot for my 8 year old for emergency use. Baby steps until we get her an actual phone in a couple of years.

For my wife, they didn't have the non-Cellular version for her size or color, 41mm. I will keep an eye out for Series 8 or 9 41mm for new or refurb for around $200.

I'd go series 8 and up if I'm upgrading from the 5. There's some trade-offs in features between this and the 5 that aren't worth it IMO. Pretty sure you'll see some series 9 sales coming soon too.

Typically, you'd get a refurbished watch where they've replaced the battery, as they don't still make the Apple Watch Series 5.

I think this would largely feel like a sideways move coming from an iPhone series 5, aside from it having a brand new battery, and likely additional years of watchOS support. I went from a series 4 to this watch and it largely feels the same.

I would just go to Apple site and use the compare feature. The biggest difference between the SE models and regular models is the regular models have "always on" display. It could feel like a downgrade even though you're getting a processor 3 generations newer with the SE.
