I'll keep this on hand and use it the next time I need to season my cast iron cookware as I heard shortening is excellent/ideal [kitchenkapers.com] for that purpose; thanks OP.

This is such a deal great deal. The chocolate chip cookie recipe on it is one of the best recipes I've tried.

Wow. One of the rare moments that the regular price is actually accurate. Don't even use shortening except for pie crusts (only make maybe 4 pies a year), but couldn't resist but get 2 of these. Hope the dates aren't close or they don't melt in the mail. Great deal. Thanks OP

Good for making a candle if power goes out but terrible to actually put in your body. This is basically machine grease.

They make great emergency candles or a heat source under a clay pot. If I recall, the large one will burn 42 days straight. You just buy wick material, and put it into it.
