Weird take. Go to any event, from high school to pro, that'd be competitive enough for an elite runner, and you'll see plenty of those elite runners wearing Hoka, along with the higher lines from Saucony, Nike, and Adidas. My daughter's assistant cross country coach, who was an elite D-1 runner, then a pro, and now a top-level masters runner, has at least one pair of Hokas in his arsenal, and he puts his daughter in them as well.

Not all Hokas are great, but I really don't get why seeing fat people in Hokas makes you not want Hokas. Base it on the shoe, not the image you associate with the brand.
