I'm not sure though... depends on how much you're downloading really. Seeding = "infinite" drive life. So I guess it depends on how much you expect to DL. I think I've traditionally downloaded everything to HDD's. I wouldn't mind this drive for backups, but 800TBW doesn't inspire much confidence. I've been thinking about buying a ~2TB datacenter SSD. Something that you can do multiple DRIVE writes to per day, and will last you 5 years+.


I'd go with the HDD for downloads Big Grin.
I've got a micron enterprise SSD in my system and it's got like 60k hours on it and still says something like 85% in crystaldisk lol

This is where gen 5 belongs with Dram.... Gen 4 is $50 per TB, with ram! Gen 5 should be dropping in price soon with way better stuff coming soon after, so don't pay more than you have to for any of it. When you see WD and Samsung price drop, you know it's game on time to pay attention!

The problem is, 99% of users will never fill up even 200TB of that in its lifespan. Some people live in a fantasy land. Unless you are a content creator or developer going through terabytes a week...

I totally agree there. But my comment was in regards to the fact that people downvoted the other comment that called out the 800TBW. I think it's very relevant, particularly when you're talking about someone who would buy a 4TB SSD today. There's a very good chance they're doing a lot of writing because it's currently cheaper (per TB) to buy a 2TB drive. As someone who does video production and was thinking about buy this, that comment shut this idea down. Either way, it was a useful observation without me having to dig for it.
